Thanks, Joe Biden. The Asset forfeiture (seizure) Act that you crafted while a US Senator was so ill conceived & poorly thought through that the cure is far worse than the problem it was meant to address. So, a person grows some pot on their property. Biden's law allows all their assets to be seized without any due process to prove that all their assets came from growing pot. So, where to grow some pot? Well, public lands of course. How's the Govt going to seize lands they already own? This leads criminals to despoil National Forests, National Parks, State Parks, & even other private landowner's lands to grow cannabis. The plant isn't to blame, it's not remotely aware it's being grown or that protected habitat are being destroyed to make room for it. Prohibition is the underlying problem that makes it so desirable to use the 'forbidden fruit'. Prohibition is also the policy that makes it so very profitable to grow & sell cannabis, too. 73 years of prohibition have actually increased the crimes committed, like murder, to control this non-lethal plant, too. The war on cannabis users has been so overgrown that prohibition is becoming irrelevant. But, whether a cannabis crop is brought to harvest or it's destroyed by LEO's doesn't matter. It's too late, the damage is already done. Two things can be done to end this counter productive policy. Either repeal the Asset Forfeiture Act or regulate the sale of cannabis to adults like we do alcohol & tobacco. Either one would remove the incentive to grow pot on lands other than farm lands. When was the last time tobacco farmers grew their crops on National Forest lands? Point made. Then we have another of former Senator Biden's ill conceived cannabis prohibition laws called the Drug Paraphernalia Act that makes it more of a crime to have a bong with cannabis residue in it than to possess the cannabis itself. How logical. But, that's another story. Anyway, thanks Joe, again

So, there ought to be plenty of DNA and finger print evidence. Anyone identified and arrested? Do some of that CSI. Word will get around!

Come on! Clean up is great! Accountability is better!

Why is it that grows in national forests cause so much damage to the enviroment, damage that can effect things for hundreds of miles around the site, but these same arguments are not presented against mainstream farming practices? Cannabis growers do not use any pesticides, herbicides or anything else that is not commonly used in your garden variety agriculture practices.

I admit that thisis being done public property, but that is a result of prohibition not an active decision by growers.

if you believe any of this crap i got a bridge i want to sell you the tiny little bit of fertilizers it would take .to grow enough marijuana to give each and every american 100 lbs of pot pales in comparison to what it takes cotton growers to grow enough cotton to make each one of us a new pair of underwear this story of pollution is just lies made up by the despicable proffitters in human misery known as law enforcement and the prison system .if you dont believe me do your homework and figgure out who your real enimes are .when goverment stops us from voting with ballots then we must do as our forefathers did and vote with our rifles .read our history books if these nazis havent burned them yet .

It seems to me you are missing an important
point here. The problem is not one caused by
marijuana growing, but by growing illegal
marijuana.

When was the last time the Forest Service had
to clean up the mess left by a cucumber grower?

I have not heard of any wine cartels growing
grapes in our national forests.

Farmers growing legal crops operate in the open,
obey the laws, and maintain proper cultivation
and environmental standards.

Illegal moonshine stills in the South polluted
streams, started forest fires, and injured
innocent neighbors with booby traps.

When Prohibition ended Al Capone was out of
business and was replaced with Anheuser Busch
and Seagrams, both of which are very happy
to be good law abiding citizens.

Prohibition of marijuana has been a costly,
deadly failure since it was started in 1937.
Now is the time to end it. Vote yes on Prop
19.
