Higgins said that there is no quick and easy solution to illegal building in rural areas, but that he's concerned that timberland becoming increasingly fragmented can create environmental problems...... favoring a “smart growth” model...

Why didn't the TS ask higgins about building a home on "LEGAL" parcels?? higgins is on record stating that there should be no more rural homes built because it's "bad" for our environment and has lobbied for discretionary use permits. And when he says he's for "smart growth" that's code for favoring Plan A option of the general plan rewrite. Plan A essentially turns HC into one gigantic preservation zone, and funnels rural people off the land and into higgins'/healthy humboldts "in-filled" towns.

Asking rural land owners to vote for Higgins is like asking chickens to vote for Colonel Sanders.

Hats off to all the major candidates (Sunberg, Higgins and Cleary) who bring important perspectives to be considered in this race.

One of the primary jobs of a supervisor is budget oversight. Patrick Cleary is the most qualified for the job of managing our money. Not only does he do that well, he has a knack for creating opportunities for prosperity that are a natural fit with our local values.

Patrick Cleary will bring authenticity, proven ability and a tireless work ethic to the position. I am confident he will be of great benefit to our District.

Jon Brooks said he would not politicize the Assessor's Office if elected. That's extremely important. The Planning & Building Department, now called "Community Services" with its bloated $30 million annual budget is just that. A politicized agency that local politicians use to harm their "enemies". Patrick seems like a nice man, but he might benefit greatly from a heart to heart talk with those whose families have lived here for generations

I see Sundberg had time to respond to the TS questions but not those of the Tea Party. I don't know how many tea partiers are in the 5th district, but I'm sure Sundberg's refusal cost him more than a couple of votes. He must think it would hurt him more than help him to give anwers to their questions.

My votes changed from one for Sundberg to leaving all the squares blank as a result of his deceision to decide who is worthy of having their questions answered. My wife did the same.

Come on you nonpartisan candidates. Everyone deserves to ask for and receive questions during your campaign. That includes communists, libertarians, environmentalists, gun owners, and tea partiers.

I attended Sundberg's fund raiser at the casino and was planning to vote for him but his (or his advisor's) arrogance changed my mind. He hadn't convinced me to vote for him, but the quality of those running against me had.

Well, since a critic above needs an explanation - I was disrespected last election cycle and keep my word with regard to the media (if you inappropriately and unfactually abuse, you get no candidate interview).

If voters merely research ALL candidate websites (with dates too), the KEET videos and forums, along with listening to radio audio file downloads, you will be able to compare the original words of the 3 interviewed candidates above to see who has "flip-flopped" on issues, who has really no idea of what is going on in county government, who is plagiarizing who, who looks down and reads off prepared documents for almost every answer or response prior to radio roundtable, who shows heart and desire, who is serious and means business, who is racking up hoards of money and special interests, who is actually answering the forum/debate questions without throwing in stuff not anticipated to be discussed, who is connected to groups (three, name them), etc...

So, Good Luck at finding truth versus coachable groupee candidates.

You make a valid point about the inaccuracy and unfairness of media coverage. But if an organization sends the same group of questions to all candidates so they can post the responses in an unedited form, aren't all the candidates obliged to respond? I think some of the candidates don't like the questions. For example, a candidate associated with the Brady gun control group may not like the questions the NRA would ask. Too bad. The politicians need to man up. Jeff, I'm not a big supporter of most of the specifics that underlie your policy statements, but I give you credit for your candor and not hiding from questions.

Anything specific on any statements you reference, I would be more than happy to answer.

Ryan Sundberg is trying to win this to draw up plans for affordable housing so GSC can build them all and profit from it.. Him and his uncle have a whole tribal community on welfare and living in poverty and only hire family and friends for jobs at their communities business. Its a very sad situation. If you want welfare and no jobs vote for Ryan. So I urge anybody from the 5th district to vote for who you believe is gonna do better for our children's future and our working class Americans. Weather it be Cleary or Higgens vote for the mature adults not involved with illegal and childish activities that Ryan and his family are involved in.

to the tea partier - i think the questionnaire you sent was a little much, was it 50 questions or something? that is a lot of work, especially for somebody campaigning and working full time - unlike the "pats". and to give me a break...they don't even build houses, dummy. how is ryan going to give county money away to a private business without going through the bidding process that every public agency has to do? i call BS.

He will do what Martha Stewart did. Its called insider trading. They can see every bid and then bid the lowest. As for never building houses Ive worked under a contractor with his General B licence for about 4 years now. Soon I travel to Sacramento to get my licence. So I see you think I am under educated. Well your wrong. Sundberg spends a majority of his time on lengthy vacations in exotic places and traveling on the stolen money he has earned from the tribe. He gladly accepts his 3500 dollars a month from the Rancheria as a board member but does not pay out any of the tribal members ( the share holders/owners of the casino). I don't mind cause me and my wife went to college and work for living and are very stable in our income right now, but its sad to see the rest of a entire tribal community suffer from this mis management. All I ask is you consider experience over the illegal and childish behavior Ryan has show.

Hey mr. give me a break, the bids are turned it at the same time. I have done this a number of times. At the last bid for the Casino GRS was $200,000 lower than the next bidder. Why would they do that if they knew all the prices? Seems like they would be right under the next bid, doesn't it? You are either ill-informed or not being honest.

Well if you plan on keeping a business going in this ruff economy then I would bid drastically low too. Plus Everybody overbids in the contracting business. Its either your getting paid 100 dollars an hour or 50 dollars an hour four the contractor bidding. Both of those wages sound great. Then pay the mule laborers 10 bucks an hour. Trust me I know how theses things work. Its no secret that GRS and miller farms have had every contract job for the casino since Ryan's uncle took office. They have a pending investigation ongoing by the state contractors board and the BIA. So I am not miss informed. You are :)

to cover up a illegal business activity you will bid drastically lower than the lowest bid if you have inside information on all the bids. Think of it like if you bid 50 dollars on a job and you see thats the lowest bid on paper. To get the job you bid 30 dollars. Well in the case of a million dollar plus bid you will bid 200 thousand lower to make it look the same as a 50 dollar bid. As far as a you last question they are looking into weather illegal activity's are being practiced to achieve the lowest bid for the contracted work. It is being investigated and that is all I have to say at this time. There will be proof and If Ryan is elected at that time you will be left without a district supervisor as he will be in federal prison for insider trading along with his uncle. Once again I don't care about what money they take from there own community cause it only incriminates themselves. I only feel bad for the tribal members that have to suffer during this process. I hope the best for our district and that justice will prevail for the greater good of our community.

it all makes sense now. you bid drastically lower than everybody else to get the job because you have "inside information" and somehow you make a lot of money because the other people were just gouging everybody so bad that your drastically low bid was actually a good bid. very interesting and good luck on your contracting business.
