The flea market is a land of glorious non sequiturs -- a place where trinkets and doohickeys from the distant reaches of our cultural galaxy end up next to each other on fold-out card tables: Hundred-year-old ... Read more

Your article paints a pretty picture of the Redwood Flea Market and the Schroeders. I wish you would have been there when they attacked me and accused me of stealing a 25 cent little pin box of plastic buttons. I have been vending and selling at flea markets my whole life and am a 62 year old women. Suddenly the two of Schroeders and two other men came rushing up to me and attacked me and accused me of stealing this. I am one of the most generous people and gave away lots of toys and free things to young kids there and had lots of buddies and friends. They treated me like garbage and harrassed me. Ms. Schroeder barked like a dog at me and chased at me. They had fianally realized I didn't steal the 25 cent buttons. I was only looking at them legally and the way everybody else does. I was alone and am elderly and disabled. I then told them I did not want to sell anyway because they were violent and rude to me. I started packing up to leave and the two men stood there and harrassed me as i packed up. They followed me to my car continuing to harrass me and this is when ms. Shcroeder also chased after me barking like a dog. I called Redwood Acres central office next day and complained. Don't let it go down in history that my side or others treated this way don't have their right to their freedom of speech to say what happed to them. I have sold all over Calfornia and am known as generous and giving and have never stolen anything at Redwood Acres. My customers know I give real silver and gold trinkets to their kids. They know I am not a thief and that I shouldn't be treated that way they did. from a lady who was wronged

Redwood Acres Flea Market is a pit of jealous rednecks and greed heads who are spiteful and mean to each other and sell their things at more price than can be bought new. The snack bar serves cold, leftover garbage and the managers are narrow minded bigots thinking of way to get rich off of used junk. Don't go there, don't support their greed. Most people who pay the huge amount to get in, never find anything worth buying or eating. This is a good place to avoid.

I am suprised by the above negative comments regarding Redwood Acres Flea Market. I have been a few times and had a great time. Compare it to the old one by the bay. I think everyone(sellers) I met casually were very friendly, polite and reasonable. The prices were mostly fair or even really great deals, at least early in the morning. I came home with a pack full of treasures including a vintage 30s guitar for $15. Wall hanger but still very nice. You can't expect to get food, coffee etc. at flea markets or gun and jewelry shows anywhere. Forget it and bring your own. I am not a regular here at all but have been to many fleamarkets for years and think this is a good one and I applaud the folks(who I don't know) for putting it on. I doubt this is a huge money maker for them. Imagine what the building costs to rent out., insurance etc. Easy parking and walk in...Go and have fun.

why didn't your friends help you at the time? if what you say about the Schroeders is true then make some serious calls to the proper authorities, do not let a bunch of red neck trash get away with it.

I think you made this whole thing up and I don't believe a word of it.
If ANY of this had really happened SOMEONE would have stood up for you and said something. And YOU would have called a cop.
Others may buy that little old lady stuff but
I think you are an utter fake.

62 years old and calling yourself elderly? What a self pitty story this is. No respect from me if you have none for yourself.

62 years of age. Calling yourself elderly? Why should anyone feel sorry for you, since you seem to do that quite nicely. Grow up, act your age, you aren't old yet so quit trying to use age as your "race card"

Well well well. Did it occurr to you that only 2 vendors were there at all at the time and that therefore nobody was there to help me. It seems there are some people who want to take sides before they know the truth and believe gossip before they know anything at all.

And to the man who said I was using old age and disability as a crutch: it just so happens that I had just gotten off of crutches after 2 months of agony and lack of use of my left leg due to multiple sclerosis. I see from comments addressed to me on here that the fact that the Eureka police were beating people to death or shooting them for being mentally ill: that people who comment back on here are similar in attitude and hatred.

Redwood Acres flea market at first was a nice place. And then the present owners took over. They are a very greedy and emotionally disturbed couple who think they have started a world faire or international exposition instead of a freindly local flea market. WE can all hope that soon they quit and let somebody kind and polite take over. They are rude, irresponsible and run the flea market in an attempt to be the first to buy things that are specail that come in. They do not hesitate to almost ask for bribes from new sellers of gifts for themselves.

I went there and meth heads were selling stolen property. I identified things stolen from myself. Go there and wear a wig so that meth heads there do not know who you are and steal your I.D. or something.....anyway Walmart has better bargains.
