pot for profit! nothing "medicinal" about these so called compassionate clubs, which were supposed to reduce the cost of mmj to patients. The price is same as on the streets all a 215 does is legitimize the drug pusher.

215 is a joke, NO pot clubs.

enough groovy dudes around here bringing in crime. lets take our town back.

I have read the proposed mj ordinance carefully. It is just another Good Ole Boy attempt to screw the hippies. It is unworthy of serious respect. It ties 215 to code enforcement - you can't grow if Kirk Girard doesn't approve your house AND your parcel - and it is yet another covert attack on Bob McKee. It unreasonably and prejudicially treats one form of agriculture with vastly stricter standards than any other form of agriculture. It is an attempt to deny the right to grow under 215. Please speak out strongly against it. Remember, this is NOT an ordinance for Eureka and Arcata or even Blue Lake, it is only for unincorporated areas.

club costs $150 more an ounce than it does on the street. get your facts straight, street pot is wayyyyy cheaper than clinic bud and it is the same quality...same growers sell on the street and clinics, so its all the same pot no matter where you buy it.
should be like opening a regular business, dont know why they are making it so complicated.

The older I get the more I realize the mistakes I've made in the past. Smoking dope makes you a dope. Now I see the ubiquitous and flagrant usage of dope. So sad for our society. As far as I can see, there is only one good thing about so much marijuana use. It gives the folks who don't use a leg up on the competition!

The Planning commission should outright halt any "meeting" with these so-called medical marijuana dispensaries. "Medical marijuana" is an oxymoron. There is nothing medical about it. It is a class 1 narcotic that is illegal to possess for a reason. It is mind-altering, leads to mental disease, and has 100 times more carcinogens and tars than tobacco.
Just look at our county and see all the drug related crimes that arise through MJ usage! Just yesterday is was two married couples on the same strret, one couple both worked for the county, the other had a floral business in Fortuna! It's time to stand up and say no to the stoners and drug dealers who are taking over our county!!

Well your CHP dude was WRONG!!!! Not only wrong but way wrong!!! By a factor of 10!

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that driving fatigue results in 1,500 deaths each year.
NHTSA figures also indicate that 71,000 traffic injuries can be traced directly to driver fatigue.

Nationally, 12.8% of all drivers involved in fatal accidents during 2001 are known to have been intoxicated according to the blood alcohol concentration (BAC laws) of their state.

There were 11,773 drunk driving deaths in 2008.
In 2007, approximately 13,041 people were killed in alcohol-impaired driving accidents.
Drunk driving deaths (11,773) accounted for 32% of the total amount of United States car accident deaths (37,261) in 2008.

When enough voters learn the truth about marijuana and marijuana prohibition it will be legal nationwide.

All of the so called problems attributed to marijuana are actually problems directly and completely caused by marijuana PROHIBITION!

Want your freedom back? Legalize marijuana! That will take away Uncle ”Sham’s” most common excuse to trash the Constitution and pretend like the Government is protecting you from yourself!

Why is the most useful plant known, a plant that has never killed anyone, illegal? It’s illegal because corporations that buy politicians fear competition from superior, safer and more environmentally friendly hemp products and because the Government loves to oppress jail and steal from the people! Alcohol, tobacco, petroleum, cotton, timber, chemical and pharmaceutical companies, just to name a few all see marijuana as unwanted competition.

The laws prohibiting marijuana are NOT a result of any harm from marijuana. They are the result of lies, greed and racism. Read the well documented proof of that and a lot more marijuana TRUTH in these two articles:“MARIJUANA AND HEMP THE UNTOLD STORY, Thomas J. Bouril” and “WHY IS MARIJUANA ILLEGAL, Pete Guither”, click the links to those articles on this webpage:

FcK anyone on that council that approves of anything that makes it all easier for the growers to keep getting rich and breaking federal laws.
They should all be put in a federal prison or better yet execute them on the spot along with anyone else in the drug business.

And to all you who disagree then you're no better than them.
You can come back with all your denial crap and BS stats and all your other put downs.
That does not change my mind and that of many others.
So do your worst I could care less about any of you.

Just visit the Humboldt County Planning Department and experience up-close the ugliness, the clumsiness, the hopeless layout, the atmosphere of despair and defeat. Then ask yourself---could this bozo habitat possibly produce anything good or beautiful or sensible? Look at the Courthouse, the Jail, the Bayshore Mall, the Times Standard building---then find photos of the buildings these nightmares replaced and ask yourself---Is this really happening?

I agree with you Clint. The dopesters are all in denial and the dealers and Doctors who enable them are laughing all the way to the bank.

I would not have a problem with it for legitimate medical only use and controlled by pharmaceutical companies and dispensed as a prescription drug by honest doctors but that isn't the way it's being done.

I would support the feds if they would come her in force and stay for a while but that isn't happening either.

Gee, thanks for the dead link at the end. Delete the space after co. and delete the . at the end of the link and you can actually get the documents. You have to copy the http part too, even thought it's no blue. The older folks who actually need medical marijuana may not know this, so I'm just trying to help.

Most of you appear to be idiots. Doctors laughing all the way to the band. 1 word. Morphine. Next word. Prozac. I could keep naming drugs, but I'm not a doctor, and I don't go to 'em that much anyways. The gubment created drug addiction. It all goes back to battle field surgery during the civil war when they switched from alcohol to morphine. Then to get them off the morphine, they prescribed heroin. It was legal back then.

The Gateway Drug:

You go to a store to buy your booze and cigarretes, and that's all they have on the shelves besides food and stuff. You go to buy marijuana and the same guy might be the guy who's selling cocaine, heroin, meth, whatever. It's all there on the same table.

Marijuana is a schedule 1 drug while coke is a schedule 2. It's amazing what you can learn watching tv. If you don't agree, sue the history channel. The only defense against libel or slander is truth.
