Is it against the law in Willoughby to be an elected official AND have common sense?

(Common sense has been outlawed for politicians for years in Central Ohio..but I always thought it was just a local law.)

Blind, undivided patriotism is for fools. Just ask the Germans in the 30s and 40s.

Hmmm, I've done my time and I'm too to re-up and I think that this is silly, waste of time.

You know it just makes since to hang something you believe in from a 100 ft flag pole even if it is Santa. I dont believe there is a law that sys it has to be a flag American or otherwise. Besides I thought you werent supposed to hang American flags in inclement wether where they can become torn and tattered.

The pole itself is symbolic of Festivus, so that is why it is unsuitable for Santa Claus.

But then flying a flag from it could be seen as endorsing one holiday over others.

Well at least they didn't use it to display a nativity scene!

What if the pole is made in China or Mexico? Is that okay?

Is it okay for a Polish immigrant (a pole) to wave his flag?

This are the answers we need to know in order to fit into the new order.

No, Ang, the flag is to be flown daily. Some are made of heavier material specifically for inclement weather.

Flying the Flag During Inclement Weather
The Flag Code states:
The flag should not be displayed on days when the weather is inclement, except
when an all weather flag is displayed.32
The language of this section reflects the now-popular use of flags made of
synthetic fabrics that can withstand unfavorable weather conditions. It is not
considered disrespectful to fly such a flag even during prolonged periods of
inclement weather. However, since the section speaks in terms of “days when the
weather is inclement,” it apparently does not contemplate that on an otherwise fair
day, the flag should be lowered during brief periods of precipitation.

I'm a former service member, and I am offend. NOT by Santa; I am offended by the people who complain about such a thing. I served my country in the U.S.Army, but not for a flag; I served for the PEOPLE of this great country, especially for the children.

I say, "Give the kids Santa." Everyone can get back to their "I'm offended by everything" selves soon enough. I am so sick of a country full of whiners who get up each day and look for thing to be offended about.

I beleive he was referencing when the kids took down the American flag and put up the Mexican flag a few years back. Not in reference to where the flag was actually made.

Is this woman's so vacant that she has nothing better to do than worry about which piece of cloth is on a flag pole? Volunteer your time at a hospital, nursing home or the like. I'm truely sick of people not looking at the big picture.

These complainers could really use an enema for their thoughts. It would be nice if the article had a photograph of the offending display.

What ever happened to the days where flying somebody's bloomers on a flagpole was funny? Come on people, lighten up!
It's Santa Claus for crying out loud. Sheesh!
