Some have questioned whether the Dedmans are Harrodsburg's royal family. Of course they are, and Beaumont Inn is their castle. Royals have servants, don't you know. Why shouldn't they be able to abuse them. Is that not what the upper crust does to the low lifes?
They are not upper anything..

Amen. To this day I have never eat at Beaumont Inn nor do I ever care to for that very fact of how the old ways were. Kinda still like a sore thumb
you're very right. I wouldn't go back in there for anything. That crawley person had No business bringing up that word ' servitude' to that persons grandmother . Of all the nerve . And she said her grandma didn't work there as it was . It was someone else !

Most people in Mercer County never go to Beaumont Inn. Somehow you get the impression that this resturant is for the upper crust. The last time I was there they turned away a family for supper because they were wearing shorts. You had to dress up just to eat. I don't know if they still do that.

The Owl is a little different. They welcome drunks. Then there is the Owl Nest which is only for the upper crust again.

Upper crust resturant for upper crust people run by Harrodsburg Royal Family.

That is called a "dress code" dum dum. If you don't want to eat at a restaurant that has a dress code, then don't go there. By the way, Beaumont Inn is by far not the only place with such a code.

there use to be a big, tall goon that hung around the old baseball field by corning and his last name was Demaree. Had a cigar always hanging out. Then he was actually working as a pharmacist in one of the little family owned pharmacies on main. He was creepy & as 11 and 12 yr old girls he sure acted inappropriate as heck. eeck ! So I hope that's not the same Demaree .
Excuse me... yes, his name was Hilton. And yes, he always hungout at the baseball field. And why... he never missed not one of my brothers baseball games. His grandkids were his life, he was never inappropriate to anyone... let alone a young girl. Besides his grandkids... Baseball was his life. I normally wouldnt reply but thats my dead grandfather. Those are fighting words! He wrkd as a pharmacist and a dispatcher at the police station & did nothing but try to better the community. Quit speaking of families whom you know nothing about. Every family has its good and its bad. Dont judge. Your family is not perfect, nor is mine... But damnit Hilton was a terrific man.. So keep "the goons" name out of ur mouth! You think the Dedmans or the Dixons give a dang what anybody has to say about their business or their personal lives? Hell no, Im sure they have no idea this thread exist.

You know not everything has to be negative on Topix... I can think of a few good families that have been very good families in this area. Royalty, Logue, Arnold, Huff, Sanders, Ransdell. Some very good families with some very good people. Granted like all groups I'm sure there are or have been some "black sheep" in each..but over all good people!

Dress code? Don't they use the resturant tax to advertise their busness? Is not Beaumont Inn the center piece of Harrodsburg. Don't they claim that the tourist dollar helps us all.(wrong of course) Are they not in the tourist business? Then why turn away tourist who are passing through town and who want to try a little yellow legged chicken, or have a couple of snorts? I must say that they did offer to loan the father and is young son some pants and a tie. The man was insulted and left.

No body has the generation to generation leadership and respect that the Dedman family has. They run the world famous Beaumont Inn and they are involved with every important factor in Harrodsburg, from tourist promotion to protecting our historic houses. They are the cultural icon in this small town. Their influence touches almost all the decisions made in Harrodsburg and Mercer County. We are lucky to have them.

All towns big and small have those who influence what happens or does not happen. We could have worse. Yes, this family has a lot of influence. They are honest and have the interest of the entire community doing well. Most communities do not have this type of forward looking leaders. Be thankful.

I have lived in this god forsaken place for only a few months. I don't know if one family rules Mercer County. Maybe they do and maybe they don't, but I do know that this is one of the most backward communities in the country. Even compared to the state of Kentucky Mercer County is a hill billy place. There is nothing modern here. Main street is a waste. Harrodsburg should be called Hicksville.
If you are right and there is family that is pulling strings then they are doing a mighty poor job of running a town. I really think that this is bunk. The reason that this place is so backward is because backward people live here.

Yeah, them high dollar factories with all them good paying jobs, they ain't nothing. Nothing, I tells ya. Them businesses shoulda kept there hundreds of millions of dollars elsewhere. That Main Street with its block after block of empty shops... The horror! You know I drove up it just a few minutes ago and there wasn't a single car parked on it. That big ole park at the edge of town? I hear they gonna plant corn there so the weeds don't take over!

The kids is so backwards they read right to left...

I could go on, but I trust I've made my point.
Good day!
