Because of worthless spending on education is why Republicans wanted to cut ed spending not on the kids but on wastless spending.

Which teachers, which principals, and did the superintendent do it too? Does the board members know about this because we are $370,000 over budget is what the paper said. They are suppose to be working on their budget to present to the board about spending and cuts. So are any workers going to get axed? That would be a shame if this really did occur. To me this shows poor management at the top. Why would they let the management take these trips? How did 18 news learn about this? I can't wait to watch the news on Tuesday night. Really California for training and Florida to Disney World? What did they learn? We sure don't see anything from those trips!

Well we pay for four weeks paid vacation for full-time employees after ten years of employment. Now to learn they are taking even more time frolicking at Mrytle Beach with their families. I just heard that a department head from Central Office took their whole family to Mrytle Beach for a week. Well, we also pay for their gas and their food. Then they complain about having to eat a sandwich like the rest of America. Welcome to the real world. I work 50 hours a week and get a measley weeks vacation while these people are being pampered. I hope WLEX 18 exposes everything.

I know at least in one department the classified people are given the 3rd degree if they put down any extra time on their time sheet that does not have the blessing of that department's head. They keep a tight rein on paying these poor people anything while the really big wigs are getting $125,000 salary a year. For most classified, they just take the hours off the time sheet if they don't like it; oh well, too bad. They don't pay classified people diddley-poo!

FYI just to let you know that the good ol boy system is still alive and well in Anderson County Derek Shouse's best friend Jim Freeman is going to be the next principal at AMS..Don't bother with applying because he has the job... it was planned by Central office that Fultz was out and Freeman is in. Nepotisim at its finest.. When is Anderson County going to stop this good ole boy system

Jim Freeman deserves that job! He is a good man and will do a fine job. He has not been promised anything. He will apply and be interviewed just like anyone else. He was picked over years ago and we got Gina. We have lots of homegrown teachers and administrators that have been picked over and deserve to work here in Anderson Co. I think it's a shame that we lost David Young, Will Carlton, Jim Freeman and many others to other counties. Now, about the trips and such, I agree. It's out of control. There are courses that they can take in Frankfort and Louisville, Lexington or Cincy.

Oh I believe it is true, the Freemans moved back to Lawrenceburg recently, Jim is ok but why not hire someone that is not part of the good ole boy system. I think someone not from here would do a better job.

what is wrong is that the hiring system is not ethical. Everyone should have a chance to get that job it should not already be a done deal. Freeman is a good ole boy it will make Derek look bad if he could look any worse. As for David he did not apply for the AMS job he applied for the EBW job and did not get it, he was later offered Saffels job but declined because he was offered the Asst. Super job in Boyle or Mercer County (can't remember which one) I think that Glass was a better choice than Carlton.

It is so wrong for the special education department to use funds in this way. There are so many children in Anderson County that need services that are being denied. Several people I know can't get speech for their children, but they can take trips with these childrens' money. I say do a complete state audit of all the special education funds. Let them be acccountable for every single dollar spent. If one dollar is out of place then the department head is responsible from their pockets and then fired. It is time we unite together and fight these terrible corruptions in our schools. Get new leadership because they have to approve this kind of behavior.
I so agree with you. Trips to Disneyworld is completely out-of-control. If we paid for their families to eat at Disney World then I really will be mad. Because I am a mother that paid that $50 book fee this year, and I wasnt happy about it.
