Your question is irrelevant. No one "needs" them but no one also needs alcohol that kills thousands each year. The point is it is my right provided by the Constitution.

What about machine guns? Is owning one of them provided by the Constitution? When was the last person killed in the United States by a machine gun?

Here we go again. Your rights! It has been decided by the U.S. Supreme Court that the second amendment does give us the right to own guns. But the Supreme Court has also ruled that there are limitations. Miller v Texas is such a case. Texas had a law that said that guns must be licensed. Miller killed a policeman with an unlicensed gun and sued to overturn the Texas law. Supreme court ruled that states could require guns to be registered and licensed. Supreme court has also ruled that juveniles can be prohibited from owning guns. The supreme court has also ruled that laws can be establised for concealed guns. The Supreme Court has also ruled in the case of Freedom of Speech that "Freedom of speech does not permit the publication of libels, blasphemous or indecent articles. IN OTHER WORDS YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO OWN GUNS BUT NOT ALL GUNS.

In 1934, the National Firearms Act was passed. It stands as law to this day. It banned the Tommy Gun and all machine guns. Mobsters cried foul. The Supreme Court ruled that it was constitutional. They said that the Constitution grants you the right to bear arms. It does not say which arms.

Even Ronald Reagan supported a ban on the AK-47 which he said was not needed for hunting or home protection. To my knowledge, no conservative claimed that he was pissing on the Constitution.

Good thing the AR-15 isn't a machine gun ! I'm sure they were crying foul back when Reagan done that but at the time we didn't have the ability to voice our concern like we do in this age and time . Fact is that no matter what ban is put in place there are just way to many non registered AR's out there for a ban to even remotely work ! I for one will never register my Gun's just for the simple fact that I don't need some liberal prick knowing everything about me ! I keep all my weapons locked in a gun safe and out of anybody's hands but mine ! I can't speak for all gun owners but I can say that I'm extremely tired of hearing this flavor of the month crap ! Focus on feeding the hungry or something ! Leave us the hell alone !

Well if they pass a law mandating that you register them, and you don't, if you get caught with them you'll go to jail and your guns will become the property of the government. It's really that simple.

You might get by with it if you leave them in their safe and no one knows you have them. Just like I'm sure that a lot of convicted felonies keep firearms. And some of them get by with it for their entire lives. Others get caught and go to prison.

There was a case a couple of years ago. An old man was the victim of a home invasion. He used a handgun to protect himself. He left his own home in handcuffs. Why? Because 25 years earlier he had plead guilty to a felony.

Is that fair? Well maybe not. But he knew the law and he decided to ignore it. We run that risk when he ignore the law. You just have to weigh how it would affect your life and if it would be worth it.

On Oct 16, 1991 George Hennard shot and killed 23 people and wounded 20 others in a Luby's Cafeteria in Killeen TX. He used 2 hand guns. He did not NEED an assault rifle.

On Nov 5, 2009 Maj Nidal Malik Hasan shot and killed 13 and wounded 29 others using a hand gun. He did not NEED an assault rifle.

You keep asking why does someone need an assault rifle. You keep claiming that you can only kill a large number of people if you have an assault rifle.

No one needs an assault rifle. I dont need an assault rifle. I dont need half the stuff in my house. But I will support the right of any law abiding American who likes to shoot the right to own one.

Why do you think it is okay for you to tell adults what they should or should not be allowed to have. What hobbies do you have that you would be willing to let me take away. Because I dont think you need them.

Why dont you lead the way of the liberal pussies and start a serious discussion on why these things happen in this country. We have always had people with mental health issues. Is it to much thinking for you simple minded twits. The only solution for you is to ban the tool. And what will you morons do if a ban was to take place and there was another killing. What did you want to ban when the Fort Hood shooting took place. Or when the shooting in Killeen TX happened.

That is also irrevelant. And many people have them but you need a special permit for a full auto and in some places are illegal. Semi autos are not the same as full so you have 2 different arguments.

I know the Constitution and the job of the Judicial system. The issue isnt who can own guns and who cant. Everyone already knows criminals shouldnt be allowed to own them but the point is punishing law abiding citizens. It is not that hard to understand really.

Does the Constitution say semi-auto? Are machine guns not included in this right provided by the Constitution? That's what I'm asking. So please answer the questions.

You can legally own a machine gun in many states. Kentucky hosts one of the largest machine gun shoots in the world. One needs to have an ATF stamp and your local sheriff's signature. A machine gun falls under the umbrella of "arms" but does require special paperwork. They are, by definition (Pentagon def.), an assualt weapon, not to be confused with what many people term an assualt weapon. Semi auto weapons are not by definition an assualt weapons. I think the last crime committed by a criminal with a machine gun was the North Hollywood bank robbery in 1997. The last person killed with a machine gun would probably be someone killed during a SWAT raid as almost all SWAT teams carry machine guns.

So do you agree that's Constitutional?

In your world a law abiding citizen should be able to do anything his little heart desires. No, that is not the way we operate in a democracy. The most simple way to explain it to the uninformed is this: your right ends where my right begins. You have a right to drive a car, but do you have a right to drive drunk? You do not, that right ends when it endangers other people. As I posted earlier, we all have the right of free speech, but that speech cannot be used to harm other people, such as publishing false information. Our rights end when they harm other people, as in killing people with certain types of guns.

We don't live in a democracy, we live in a represenative republic. If we lived in a democracy we would vote for our president but we dont, we vote for an elecorate who cast a vote in the electoral college. Also isn't harming someone else with ANY type of weapon a crime in most circumstances. I don't have much faith in someones opinion of the law who doesn't even understand the type of government we live in.

Now your putting words in my mouth. I never said a law abiding citizen can do whatever he wants whenever he wants. The right to own a gun, doesnt matter if its semi auto or not i should be allowed as long as im a law abiding citizen and those are the type of people obama is punishing rather than the people that actually commit the crime. I refuse to give up my rights that is guaranteed by the Const. for illusions provided for resolving gun issues.
