The shelter looks terrible she is NOT interested in finding good homes for the animals. She is so rude and I agree she doesn't need to be driving around in the new donated vehicle.
If you have seen it out there then why don't you volunteer and help clean it up or maybe donate money to help get a new shelter. It cost over 100 bucks a day just to maintain those animals it's sad when the majority have to be put down because nobody adopts them. Donna does a fine job and it's people like her that we need more of so these animals have love. So what if he smokes in a car while she drives around town picking up donations and trying to find more. Quit being a part of the problem and help out.

I have always heard very kind words about Donna from the teens while I'm out at the high school. She couldn't be that bad if teenagers are praising her. Sounds like some people are jealous and wants trouble. Let people live and worry abt your own lives.

If the ones of you that are speaking badly about Donna knew half of the things she has seen in relation to animal abuse- or half the people she has dealt with working with the public, you might have an understanding as to why she might not come off exceptionally friendly. You have to have a guard in order to keep from completely losing faith in people when you deal with the sort of things she deals with. Ask any person who works in the welfare of animals....or the welfare of children/people for that matter and they would tell you the same. Donna is great at what she does....not to mention the fact that bad mouthing her detours people from going to the shelter- I don't think anyone wants to put the animals in jeopardy just because they got a bad first impression. Give it another try, and please have some patience for the shelter staff- they are doing a job VERY few of us could stomach. They work miracles out there given the small amount of resorces they have access to. I am also wondering what should be done about her (allegedly) smoking in a donated vehicle? Do you have to ride in it? No. Does one penny of your tax dollars go towards it's maintenance? NO. Did you even vote in the contest that earned the shelter that vehicle? Probably not. Have you ever donated a dime to the AHS? Probably not. The vehicle was donated because MANY, MANY people who have FAITH in Donna and the AHS voted for her/the shelter because AHS is so WORTHY. It's a testament to how many people like and admire Donna in the first place that AHS was even able to win that contest....have you any idea how many THOUSANDS of people voted to make that possible? Maybe I am wrong, just my observation.

I think if they changed to a low kill shelter then they would get more donations. I know I don't want to donate money, food, blankets, or toys to a shelter that is going to put animals down if they aren't adopted quickly.

How did this post become about bashing Donna. She used to be my neighbor and when I had my child she took time and money from her life to bring me a gift. She has worked very hard in this town to help her community. Can you people say the same. I know I can't. Why don't you just thank Donna instead of bashing her. I do thank you Donna for all of your service to our town.

There are dogs at AHS for a year or more. They hold them as long as possible. Im not sure where your statistics come from on euthnasia frequency, but they are incorrect. If you look at their FB page, you will see the same sweet faces (as well as new ones) week after week, month after month. Not exactly a "high kill" shelter. Do they have to put some of the animals down...of course they do. Rest assured every attempt was made to foster or adopt them out. They do EVERYTHING they can on their limited budget. The Humane Society is donation funded ONLY. So whether or not you agree with their practices, your donation is extremely important in the lives of these animals- whatever the legnth of it may be. I hope sheddign some light on their practices may help you reconsider your stand on donating.....it makes such a huge difference in the lives of the animals there.

I agree with you. If people would also be responsible with their pets, it would make the pet problem much less of a problem.
