Wow, when I finally took a few minutes to sit down and read this weeks Anderson News, The front page has 1. man wearing two security monitors busted for theft. 2: Man charged with drunk hunting will stand trail 3. Man charged after parents find meth under bed 4: Search for suspected bridge jumper scaled back(Child Molester) that sums up the first two pages of the news..then on page 6....High School issues soft lockdown afte rman flees Mercer Cops" page 10 is completely full of court documents! WOW O WOW, they should change the name of the paper to The Anderson Criminal News! I am sure other towns have lots of crime, and unfortunatley it's only gonna get worse. I saw on the Lexington news that since the new pill mill law went into effect and the druggies can't get their drugs they are going for the cheap fix "Heroin" Lexington reported that in the last two weeks that 10 deaths are related to Heroin" please notice red flag with your children, if you suspect drug use, your instincts are probably right. sad sad!

It seemed to me you were trying to bash the newspaper. If you were, that's absurd. Id rather know the activity as to it be sprung on me. If you ask me they should go back to putting their pictures in the paper like they used to with a DUIs. Use the embarrassment factor. They law seems not to be working.

I agree, put those DUI pics back in the paper!
I know someone who got a DUI and did not learn their lesson. Still drinks and drives and the spouse just turns and looks the other way. Really pisses me off because someone could get very hurt or killed by this idiotic behavior.
Cant say who this person is, but they were extremely embarassed when it happen, but man if the pic had been in the Anderson news, my guess is they would still be in hiding.
Bring back the DUI pics please!!!!!
And no its not just for the nosey old folks to gossip. Its a good teaching/learning tool to not break that law.
They could just put everyones pics in there for most of the other crimes too, at least that would fatten the paper up and make it worth what we pay for it.
Wont happen

Actually Lawrenceburg has been ridden with crime the past year. We moved, it's no longer a safe place to raise a family.

I have lived in Lawrenceburg since 1990 my family moving here in the early 80's, the reasoning for moving here was to get away from Lexington. Sadly, I am no longer in a position to just pick up and move. I own a home here and the housing market speaks for itself. Sadly what use to be such a great little town has become a drug ridden, crime ridden community! There are people out there that go to jail over a little of nothing and it seems that the same people keep appearing on the front page of the Newspaper, why aren't they in jail, where they should be in the first place, simply because they become a snitch for the police dept and get their charges reduced to a lesser crime and are punished by putting an ankle braclet on, which is apparent that home incarceration clearly does not work! The reason we have so much crime in this community is because the criminals know that they will get away with it! Just go to Anderson Co. and commit your crime they will just put your name in the paper after they reduce your sentence and you become a snitch! The Justic System stinks! It would be awesome if our justice system converted to "tent city" like in Arizona!

Agree, with all the child molesters, abusers, meth heads and thieves its out of control. Try a short sale or deed in lieu with your lender. Lord knows homes aren't selling at market prices.

Yes I have already sent several emails to the Lexington New Channels, trying to get some news coverage. If everyone would start sending emails maybe they would wake up! Heavens forbid they report on everything else, sometimes really stupid stuff that doesn't even need reporting, so why is there no news. Simply because it is the Versailles Police Dept heading the investigation! It's just like many other cases that they have screwed up or persay: tried to cover up!

WOW O WOW, they should change the name of the paper to The Anderson Criminal News. Sure sounds like your complaining to me. Pont? Its called a typo. I am by no means a pill head or jobless so apparently you need to think about what your typing and quit looking in the mirror. I apologize if I read your comment wrong but that's the way it seemed. Unfortunately their isn't much need other than bad in this County bc the great offucuals we have never allow anything good and haven't for some time so ppl have had too much time to focus on illegal activity. Now if the paper was allowed to post the criminal act and picture maybe crime rates would diminish. It's a proven fact embarrassment works. It worked years ago and privacy laws took an important tool away. In my opinion that if your a criminal you should loose all rights. Privacy should be first.

Did this whole post confuse anyone else but me ??? Privacy laws have not changed, so exactly WTF did it take away ??? What officials are you referring too ?? I mean seriously, are our officials suppose to schedule our lives for us ?? Apparently the whole country has too much time on their hands because there is a lot of bad things going on across not only the USA, but the whole world.

I see nothing confusing about the post on this thread. It clearly states that there is to much time on people's hands (probably not if they would just get a real job) nevertheless, All communities are seeing a rise in crime and drug related activity. The elected officals need to do their jobs and put a stop to it! If they actually had to spend money to try these people in the court of law (instead of pleaing them out), they (the officals) might have to take a pay cut! why has the people of a country like ours, once the freest and most prosperous, allowed the conditions to deteriorate to the degree that they have? The U.S.A is going right down the toliet, because we have even subcome to letting the government regulate our commodes.

Your state lawmakers have played a big part in keeping convicts from going to jail and letting them out of jail. If you want to see a SORRY state of prosecution and plea bargaining you should look deep into the actions of Anderson County Commonwealth Attorney Laura Donnell and her assistant David Nutgrass. These people deal with the felonies commited in Anderson County. Apparently no one else wants to challenge her for the position because she had no opposition in the election, so the citizens are stuck with her form of prosecution for the next six years. I feel like a majority of citizens do not look closely at the elections and the end result is some poor elected officials. One other opinion I have is that a lot of the problems start in the home where their is no discipline, some parents are afraid to tell thier child no and they grow up feeling they can do anything they desire. There is not a quick fix, but communication with your federal, state and local officials is a start.

Oh, how well I know Laura donnell also know the idiot Fielding Ballard that was the prior 53rd judicial commonwealth attorney, Laura was working under Fielding at that time, she came from Nicholasville to Shelbyville. His office was nasty in Shelby County! He had cats that lived in the office and it smelled like a nasty dirty litter box! Those cats were up on the sofa, on the desk ewwwwwww. I had some business to take care of there and I refused to go back in that office again. infact I complained to the attorney generals office and the health department, because I have allergies to cats. Nothing against cats, I am an animal lover, but I don't think that is the proper place for cats or any other animal as far as that goes. You can bet if anyone ever runs against her they will get my vote, after all no matter who it is, they couldn't do any worse than she does! I don't know how she lays her head down at night and sleeps with a clear conscious! She doesn't live in this county so she really could care less and would almost bet that her income and raises are based on the # of guilty pleas and the bottom line of $$'s she saves the state by not taking cases through trial procedings, regardless of the plea to lesser offenses! Typical Politician! Need I say more. lol.
