Ok Im not trying to start a big slamming thread here, but I have been seeing several posts from someone on facebook that has now built a chicken coop in town and was talking about the rooster crowing.
Im sorry, but town is NOT the place for chickens and roosters, most of us chose to live in the city because we did not want the sounds and smells of country living(no offense to those who live in the country, personally I prefer the country over town) but with that being said, I am sure neighbors do not want to hear the crowing.
Just because this is an intrest to you does not mean it is an intrest to your neighbors.
Many people have to work(that still have jobs) and being woken up at odd times by anything is aggravating enough, but a rooster crowing? Please please please take them down and move them to a friend or family out of town if you really feel the necessity to have these animals. Im not even sure if this is allowed within city limits. I certainly hope it isnt.
I do feel for your neighbors and if any neighbors read this and are bothered by it, take action, call city hall.
Im sorry, I know you are a very nice person, but this is just not appropriate for town.
Remember people this world has other people in it besides you and we all need to try to get along and not irritate the crap out of each other.
All the bumper stickers that say Coexist? well not everyone seems to be trying to do that. I love animals but when it gets to the point that they are disturbing others right to peace, then there is a problem.

It's a whole lot better to hear roosters crow in town than to have to listen to all the cell phones and loud music all day and nite. Nothing is more peacefull that a rusters crow.

Actually Farmer Bob or watever your name is...dumb*ss would be the name I would call you, there is no city code violations with having chickens inside city limits it just states that they must be confined if they are caught running free then the owner can be cited and chickens removed so you should probable educate yourself before you run your big mouth!!

wow people, it's time to wake up (even if it's to a rooster crowing) I think the drugs in this town are far worse of a thing to worry about other than a coop of chickens! at least the chickens aren't selling or using drugs! I read the paper every week, I don't see anything about disturbing chickens and roosters, however I do see alot of drug charges! To those pointing out the chicken/rooster people, maybe you should be more on the watch for drug abuse! I know where you are talking about and there are likely far worse things going on around you other than the chiks and rooster!

Honey I am sorry you are up all night, but I would think with you being 83 years old that at some point in your life you were around chickens? My experience with chickens are that they bed down at night, unless chickens have become acustom to the city life, I would think they would be bedded down at midnight. Heck I am just over 50 years old and I have sleeping issues, it's not because I have chickens, nor is it things running thru my mind etc. I think it just has to be about age, I have learned to sleep with my T.V. on now, so the outside world does not disturb me! Also you might try some melatonin.

Chickens AND roosters roost when the sun goes down!! Which means they go to sleep!! I've had them all my life and have never saw them move around at night. And that also means they aren't making any noise!! Nice try though!!

I do have to admit, this is all you can come up to nag about your life must be realy good for you to say something about chickens realy!!!!ok i feel that i am obligated to let you know how i wake up all hours of the night , when i tell you ,you realy shouldnt say anything else about chickens ,heck that will be the least of your worries. you just dont know how i would love to wake up with a rooster crowing or a hen laying an egg that would be music to me....insted I wake up to "m" "F" this and "M" "F" that ok yes I do live in the "grove"as they call it that should not give any one any reason to scream at the top of there lungs just so every body in the grove will know that they are awake ....commmon now that alone should be a noise problem by itself...but noooooooo....there is more then grown men drive as slow as possible down the public street thumpin there music at a dead end street and sit there for hours untill they can make there drug deal then they will finnally go in there house and go to bed at 4 and 5 inthe morning.....then the same dang people getting mad at you , and come over in your yard and kill your rabbits ,im sorry but the last i herd rabbits dont crow or bark , they pretty much just sit there oh and ofcourse bread alllllll the time....but thats a diffrent complaint , anyways....not only did my rabbits come up missing so did two mexican dogs and a charpe...his legs were cut from his body and let bleed todeath .....your neighbors are nothing compaired to a freekin rooster crowing , and i can have anything done becouse they use the race card against athe police , county attorny judge and the city council.....what in the heck is wrong with this picture....im not a racest by all means but my naighbors are , i get called all kind of racial crap that im not able to complain about becouse the right people wont listen ....everybody gives the grove a bad name when the grove isnt bad place at all its very preety country setting that most people of lawrenceburg dont even know its there , they have herd of it and about it , but truly its a beautiful place .....there are just drug dealers , white and black that scare people away when to be honest about it , the only reason that they call each other drug dealers is to scare people....they are grown bullys and should be delt with is all im saying about that......YOUR NEIGHBORS ARE GOOD PEOPLE IF THATS ALL THEY DO...

I am a city girl, but I will say there is nothing worse than a barking dog all night. I say let there be chickens, and roosters, there are many more important things in life than worrying about a rooster crowing. I agree the loud music, cars, and wanna be thugs roaming around are far more of a nuisance than a chicken or a rooster.

Just want to make it know that you do not need a rooster unless you want your hens to hatch the eggs she lays. Yes a female chicken will.lay a egg a day and they do not need male
I love fresh eggs and with the price of the ones at the store it is ridiculous the price they charge and they are feed growth hormones etc,,,,,fresh is best

Well we live in town in Versailles,my 13 year old son has 5 hens one rooster. My neighbors all know none complain,h*ll most of them buy eggs from us...love em. The person who posted earlier that the chickens roost when son goes down is correct they do and dont hear a peep out of them till around seven thirty the following morning,so unless you are trying to sleep all day what harm are they to you,we can not hear them inside our house either. So Farmer Bob we have fresh country eggs for sale in the city without the city prices....anybody need some eggs let me know...
