The more that I think about this the more I think that we need to do what Danville did and let more people sell liquor. As a town Danville is way ahead of Harrodsburg. We got liquor but only a few can sell it. We were promised that if we voted for liquor we would get a bunch of restaurants and that Harrodburg would make a lot more money. That ain't happned. Some are making money off of liquor, but only a few. Most of us ain't made a dime. Danville went hole hog and they are making money hand over fist and they got a bunch of nice restaurants and another one is coming. We got nothing. If it works for Danville let's try it here. Give me one of those petitions. I'll sign it today.

We need some real bars in Harrodsburg. I tired the one that we have and it is not a real bar. I want some music and some real excitement. I'd like to go into Kroger and buy a case of Bud Lite, but of course we can only buy liquor by the drink in Harrodsburg, and we can only buy it in certain places. We need a couple of package stores so that we don't have to drive to Danville and spend our money. Is there someone out there who would like to make some money? Start a petition and bring a little excitement to town.

I have been around Harrodsburg long enough to remember the liquor votes. The rich cat from Cincy pushed and bankrolled liquor sales in Harrodsburg for years until it finally passed. People said that he did it for the Dedmans so that Beaumont Inn could sell booze. Now that place and the Mexicans are the only ones that can sell booze by the drink in Harrodsburg. There are no interesting bars and no place to have a meal and a drink except those places and none of them come close to a real fun bar where I could take my wife and dance and have a good time.(a real bar would not be against a lesbian dancing with her wife) There are no package stores. This is 2013 not 1776. Boring is what we have.

I have read that Harrodsburg is sowed up and that it ain't going to change. I can't believe that this town is that dumb. Let's start some petitions and get liquor in this town like it is in Danville. If we do it liquor will come and this town will change for the better.

All I heard was that if Harrodsburg would vote to sell liquor money would come and we would have some of those so called chain restaurant. Maybe some of you like the Mexican and Montgomery restaurants, but I don't. I want a real bar. I am not a blind sheepdog so tell me Cane, what do you think keeps Harrodsburg old and worn out and boring.

Eddie Montgomery sells booze by the drink. Other places in Harrodsburg COULD if they wanted to. There is nothing that says they are the only ones. Some places refuse to sell liquor.

Eddie Montgomery is not in Harrodsburg, and besides who wants to go there. I want a real bar, somewhere we can dance and the boys can watch sports. You got to have a certain number of seats so that ain't the reason why the don't sell liquor. A bar of the kind that I want does not have to be a restaurant first. We can have liquor stores and bars here if we will get on the ball and start a petition. If enough people sign these petitions and it becomes legal to sell liquor by the bottle then these businesses will come just like they came to Danville. That will bring money to Harrodsburg. Just letting a few people sell it only brings money to those few people that sell it.

So what. Is it the kind of bar that I am thinking of? Can you go to a package store? We are limited. We need to get with it and open up this town. Danville claims that total liquor has changed downtown. What do we have downtown? Nothing. Why are we always second tit? Don't we have any real leaders. That commissioner meeting that I read about in the paper tells me that the commission is holding back Harrodsburg. I remember that one of the selling points during the liquor campaign was that business would not come to Harrodsburg without being able to buy a drink and have a good time in a bar. I guess they lied.

Do you think that every business that opens up in Harrodsburg has to get Eddie Long's approval? How do you know that what the woman said at the meeting was even true? How do you now that she wasn't at a Golden Corral, met the owner and said "You ought to open up one in Harrodsburg!" and trying to be nice he said "Ok that's a good idea, thank you."

Miss McGee, if you feel this strongly, speak to the county clerk, find out what is needed to get it on the ballot, and make it so.

Why oh why does everyone think that it's someone else's responsibility to get everything done?

Well looks like we have something coming Danville dosen't have and few know about it. The old Cricketeer building on Cane Run St.Is slated to become a legal Distellery. The license has been applied for and barring any public outcry, will soon be in full operation. However ownership is by a Boyle Countian.

Im glad other elected officals got jobs in KY and did not state, not my job. What is the mayor's job, hiring the fine police force in H-burg?

I'm 45 years old and this town hasn't changed at all in 35 years...I agree with everyone of you, that this town needs changes and needs it now... The only restruants we have is Eddies, which takes alot of money for me and husband to go and have a good time just for one night. Now we do have two mexican resturants (which I see we have no need for in this small town).I would love to have a place to go eat a nice dinner and and a few drinks and a place to dance and cut loose on the weekends...Sitting at home every weekend gets damn old..Im also a huge football fan and a sports bar would be nice. But just a question, even if every person in this town signed a petition, do you honestly think that would make nay difference, look who we have for the city Commissioners, the same people that dont want to change harrodsburrg.

Then you and your husband need to head up to the bank of your choice, talk to a loan officer, and take out a loan for a place to have a nice dinner, a few drinks, and to "cut loose." Who's responsibility do you think it is to open such a place?

Also, why would you present a petition to get alcohol sales on the ballot to the city commission?

Can you please give a comparison of Eddie Montgomery's prices vs. those of O'Charley's, Applebee's, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and other chain casual dining restaurants?

A man with your means should be able to check them out on your own. Get out and do something constructive.
