So when's this dog law going to pass that keeps people from chaining their dogs outside all hours of the day? If you have a dog it should be part of the family not a yard ornament. Atleast try and find it a home or give it to the shelter, at least there it would get walked and get other dog interaction!!

What law are you talking about? Ive never heard of it. Does it only include house dogs or something? I couldnt imagine a law passing that says you cant have an outside dog, its just too ridiculous.

Having a law banning outside dogs is over the top. Dogs have been outside ever since the world began. However I do think it is a good idea to have them in a fences area where they can move around.

I can definitely agree w/ that....nothing irritates me more than someone who cares so little about their dog that they just let it run loose. Not only are they being an irresponsible pet owner but they are being very disrespectful to their neighbors. I have to dodge dogs every time I drive down my road.

Oh nevermind I though you just said they should be in a fence, like they shouldnt be running loose. I should have read more closely and Id have realized you were talking about putting them behind a fence instead of on a chain. My bad :)

There is a law that says "Dog cannot be tied up outdoors no longer than 4 hours in a day".Look it up!

Really? Bless my neighbors dogs little heart he just sits out there all day and howls when the train comes by. Its so sad. I have dogs of my own but i have a fenced in yard so they can run around during the day and in the evenings, however they are part of the family and sleep inside at night. I just dont get it. Why get a dog that your going to tie up, never play with, or never show affection to. Its dumb. Your basically adding another mouth to feed that you dont want. Where is the logic???

I have an outside dog who is on a chain and I dont feel like he is mistreated at all. He has a nice dog house, a very long chain, gets treats, the best of dog food, and is given lots of attention. Sure, some dogs should be kept inside or in a kennel...but its not like everyone who has a dog on a chain is mistreating them.

You know whats interesting? How people can treat their pets better than the children in this country. I see more people at stores buying stupid shit for their dogs that they could be helping out starving children. It makes me sick i see grown ass people doing this and I've notice it while I'm only 19. Dogs can be outside for long periods of time. Unless the animals is cold sensitive.

How come a dog is on a chain? They are not meant to chain. They like to run. It's not fair.

Only certain breeds of dogs can take the colder temps. As with Huskys--They can tolerate it alot easier than a shepherd or hound dog.

It's not about comparing and animal to a child. Its about treating an animal that you go out of the way to obtain but dont go out of the way to treat with any kind of kindness, or affection. Whats the point of having a dog if your going to chain it up or keep it in a kennel all day, with no attention, no affection. It just sits there, grows old and dies. It logically makes no sense. yes they are animals no they dont need the luxuries humans do. HOWEVER IF YOU ARE GOING TO GET AN ANIMAL IT SHOULD NOT BE PUT ON A CHAIN OR SHOVED IN A KENNEL FOR YOU TO IGNORE. If you dont have time for an animal dont get one.

A hounddog takes the weather really good. They are use to being out in all kinds of weather hunting.I dont like to see animals mistreated either but what about these poor horses that you see out in fields everywhere and they have no shelter at all.

I wasnt comparing a dog to a child. I was comparing the treatment of both. Its a completely different topic. And stop crying about dogs being tied out. People have tied dogs out for years. Its not different than keeping it in the house its whole life never letting it outside. I see so many people have overweight animals and yet you all complain about dogs being tied out? Get out of here with that bs. Its one thing to treat a dog badly but to tie one out i dont see a problem with it.
