Is there a NEED or INTEREST for Dry Camping near Lake Conroe?

I like to dry camp in my Travel Trailer using my own water, self contained facilities, generator, etc and find it difficult to locate anywhere in Willis or Conroe to do this sort of thing for a low cost. Do you know of anywhere I can do this dry camping or boondocking preferably in Willis near the Lake Paula area of Lake Conroe? I want to pay around $10-$15 per night instead of using a full hookup at a campground and I want to be close to Lake Conroe, not out in the Major Boonies of the Forest.

I also want the convenience of a grocery nearby. I want to be able to launch my boat on Lake Conroe during the day and go back to my travel trailer for the night and do it all over agin the next day. Where can I find this in Willis or Conroe? Are there boat launch facilities and what are the fees also?

Thanks for your help in advance..

Have you checked with Texas Parks & Wildlife? There are many primitive areas that use to be available. Although some you wouldn't want to visit during hunting season! They are what they call "Type 2" areas. Only those that possess the permit are allowed to utilize these areas. You only have to pay a small annual fee, and you have unlimited use of any of those areas that are designated as Type 2. TP&W can also give you a list (and even some maps via the web) of all the camping areas in just about any area of interest you would want.
Good Luck!

Try Stubblefield Lake off of 1374. Maybe not exactly what you are looking for but it is a nice place. Located about 10 minutes from huntsville and on the very north end of lake conroe. has boat launch. Good crappie and white bass fishing in the early spring. about $10 per night. No full hookups.
