This company appears to be a scam. First hand experience with them and knowledge of their practices as a business are when the channels start going off the air it won't be long before all the channels are off the air and they continue to bill customers that don't know what is happening. End result is that the areas that had cable services, eventually don't. The systems have been abandoned and most or all of the gear removed from the headends. The headends are where the big satellite dishes are located and the signals are sent out into the area through cable lines that usually run below the power lines. Not worth rating.

Is anyone else having trouble with Almega Cable?
Almega bought out Rapid Cable in our area in December - no notice, no warning, just a new name on the bill. Since then, service has gone from okay to pathetic. Most of the time, we are missing 20% of our channnels and the rest are fuzzy - sometimes they are all missing. Calls to service sometimes result in temporary improvement but usually we just get empty promises that it will be fixed "soon".
We have lots of trees on our property, which interfere with satellite reception. This is why we switched back to cable. At this point, I am so disgusted that I'm looking into clearing a few trees so we can go back to satellite.
I'm thinking that Almega tends to operate in areas where they have no competition other than satellite. This must be the reason they are still in business.

It does my heart good to see the depths of your obsession with my greatness, but I wonder if you have any idea how large the Houston metropolitan area is? I mean it's not like WV where everyone knows everyone on Topix....LMAO, but you go right ahead and continue to show us how naive you are. Do yourself a favor, look up the population of Houston and the surrounding towns....LOL.

In all honesty though, I didn't realize how naive hillbillies could be. Carry on.

Oh wow. Twin idiots. I didn't realize that your mom having sex with her brother increased her chance of having twins.

Almega has been working like a charm for me and my family. I hope they keep growing, bankruptcy? I'm hearing they are getting bought out by comcast since they are trying to get into the foreign language stations. By the way I live in Texas

Almega bought out many small cable companies here in Oregon. The town I live in only gets satellite or cable....I should say got cable. Almega has completely abandoned the service, even owing rent to the city for where they keep their equipment. Our small city has gone so far as to legally lock up their equipment and they will try and sell or scrap it for at leat part of the money owed. It is sad. The bigger companies don't want these small rural markets, how I wish they would take us on as customers. Almega cable needs to be sued by customers and cities they service around the country and the Attorney General needs to go after them.

Hi everyone,
I also am sooooo sick of Almega Cable. I just got high speed internet service though frontier. I can stream news shows and my favorite PBS series through the computer. I am dropping Almega. Whenever I called them I got someone in India who did not understand what I wanted. They took off CNN and replaced the comedy channel which has Jon Stewart with a channel that gives cheap horror films. Amazingly stupid!! I live in rural Oregon, we had Blue Mountain Internet before and they were very good. But the Texans bought it out then sourced the service to the Mid East. disgusting.

I currently can only see 1 channel on my so called cable service with Almega. I have tried repeatedly to have my service cancelled and they REFUSE to let me speak to a supervisor OR to accept an order to disconnect my service!!! I have not paid anything, as they have (so far) sent my bill to 3 different incorrect addresses. The cable was turned on approx 2 months ago and has not worked correctly for a single day during that time. At best I received about 12 channels, now only 1. Several years ago I had service with them and it was fine, I don't know what has changed. At this point, they suck.

I live up the road from Winchester IL and have MediaCom and guess what...it's also owned by a bunch of foreigners. I get audio buzzing on alot if my digital channels. HD channels flicker alot from what looks like loss of signal and very poor picture quality on many channels. I was told that MediaCom abandoned their headend antenna farm here in Jacksonville a while back and built a bigger master headend in Bullpit which is about 30 miles southeast of here. Supposedly they pick all the channels there and send them via fiber optic cable up here. Well it must be pretty poor fiber line because the quality literally sucks!! I live in a high-rise and can't have dish so I have to put up with this shitty reception from MediaCom!!!

headends also usually are in remote areas and either get broken into or get their equipment vandalized by thugs looking for metal that they can get drug money for!!!
