I have been frustrated with Almega ever since I have had their service.
I have read all of these posts and it is if I had wrote about my experience with them.
I am at this time filling out a complaint form to send to our Attorney General concerning their billing me for services that I do not get.
I think this is just out and out fraud.
I will let you know what happens.
Can someone tell me how to send a complaint to the FCC. Maybe if enough of us file complaints something will be done.
I have no choice at this time but to do what my neighbors have done and go to a dish.

I also live in a rural community, almega cable also took over rapid cable with no notice, since they have taken over we have half of the channels, no literally half of the channels that we had.... the bill is for the same amount every month, and my husband and I are concerned that they will not be digital by the deadline, because the stations that have already gone digital we do not get, problem is there is really no other cable company here, we would have to go to satellite which we all no can be very costly...

Just got a response from the FCC. Looks like they are not going to be any help after all. Here's what they said...

Thank you for your complaint pertaining to cable services and programming. Unfortunately, the Federal Communications Commission does not have regulated authority over cable services and programming as of 1999. Please review information below. Thank you.

If you have any further questions or concerns please contact the Federal Communications Commission at 1-888-225-5322, and press option #0. Thank you.

Like I said, not very helpful. Why is it that no one can tell me who regulates this service???

If you call the Attorney General of your state. You can make a complaint there. We have already done so and will actually be filing another on Monday in reference to their service and outage of the last 4 days.

I am very disappointed with my cable service in Pinson,Alabama with Almega Cable and I have been without service since November 2008. I have called nurmerous times and talked with the same person and always giving me different names (Craig, Randy, Charles, etc.) They keep sending me a bill for services I never received and I am tired of it. Something needs to be done about it.

Complaint sent to the BBB in Ft Worth actually got them to respond. Sort of. They called and promised to send out a technician and, of course, never did. Then two weeks later, they called to ask if our cable was working. Seriously??? They didn't fix anything and wanted to know if we were satisfied so they could report back to the BBB???

Suggest everyone send a complaint to the BBB and your state's Attorney General. These thieves should be shut down.

Why business
Why cable
Why call Center
Why Customer.....What is their frigin motto

I have been trying to get my cable service fixed for over 8 months. I had Rapid Cable back in October 2008 and our cable went out. I finally got a statement from Almega and I called them to report our trouble. No one has done anything. Repeated conversations with a lady named Jessica have been in vain. Several weeks ago she said that a tech person needed to come out and do an audit on our service. The last time I talked to her she said they did not have anyone in my area.
They keep sending us statements every month that
include a late charge and I refuse to pay for a
service that I do not have. In my last conversation with them I asked how they can stay in business with no service people in an area they are providing cable. We have had it with them.

Almege cable is absolutly the worst cable co. I have ever seen. I have not had 5 channels that I pay to recieve in over 8 months. They keep sending me a bill and I call and tell them I will start paying my bill when I get full service. I have not paid my bill in 8 months yet they have not disconnected me or fixed my cable. Almega cable SUCKS.

I just got almega cable and some of the channel are fuzz and some are good. They did not tell me that it is $15 a month above the bill to have other tv on cable in your house, and it is $70 to have new cable ran into you room. And that is the only cable that we get in the little town I live in.

I have not had service in Brackettville, Tx for 3 weeks. I have talked to half the people in India and can't get a reason or time when it will get fixed. I filed a FCC complaint and a BBB complaint. I called Senator Hutchison. I am going to call my representative and other senator. I recommend everyone call the same.

We live in Eastern Oregon and we have had the same problems where some of the channels are fuzzy mainly on a the weekends or we don't have channels all of a sudden and no one is available to tell me what is going on. They also keep changing channels saying they are adding channels to our service but then they are replacing other channels with the new channels and we lose certain channels that we may have wanted. They do it without even telling any of the customers whats going on and then one day you flip on the tv and theres something completely different. And they do it often. We also just almost lost our cable service where we live which would have made it where we had no local cable service because they are the only game in town unless you get dish or satellite which like others can't afford. Anyway they never paid the previous provider for the usage of the cables that were in the previous providers name and owed 14 thousand dollars luckily they paid if off. But they didn't inform any of their customers we found out because it was the top front page story in our local newspaper. And We got an apology from the previous provider and still nothing from Almega Cable. I guess I should feel lucky that we even have cable but part of me feels that they should provide better service.

I have for many months called, e-mailed and written letters to Almega Cable complaining about about the problems I have been having with missing channels, poor reception, etc. since Almega took over from Rapid. I have many channels missing. Most recently missing are CNN, TBS, TNN. I've have not had WGN, Galavision, TNT, Lifetime, Cartoon Network, CMT, TVLand and others for over eight months. Almega no longer overs Discovery, Animal Planet, Travel and other channels. They are having contract disputes and will no longer offer these channels. They didn't even notify their subscribers. I get the same old story everytime I call or get e-mail replies, "Someone will be out there next week to fix the problem." Weeks, months have come and gone and nothing gets resolved. I don't know how this company is still in business. They offer very little credit for the missing channels, yet if you don't pay, they threaten to disconnect. How can they disconnect, if they don't even have technicians to resolve the problems we subscribers are having. There is no state agency in Texas to complain to. I don't think Almega is even a member of the Texas Cable Association (or something like that). We have no one to complain to. The FCC and the FTC do not accept these complaints. It is a shame that a company like Almega is allowed to operate in Texas or in any state, for that matter. I live in an unincorporated area, near Austin, Texas and I believe that is why Almega does not care or have the manpower to fix the problems we, the subscribers have. I don't know why they were allowed to buy out Rapid Communications, when they knew they could not provide service to existing custumers of Rapid. I think we should complain to our Legislatures, maybe they can get another company to come into our small cities or unincorporated areas, who can offer cable TV services. Olga Z., Del Valle, TX

I think Olga has discovered the secret behind Almega Cable. They come into "small cities or unincorporated areas" where there is no competition and no regulatory agency. The customers are often stuck because no one will hear their complaints and there are no other affordable options.

After putting up with months of only 2 channels then no channels at all, we finally "fired" Almega in June and have been living without television ever since. That makes 8 months (including those while we still "had cable") without TV, and you know what? we really haven't missed it very much. We can get news and rebroadcasts of many shows from the internet.

You might not have any legal recourse, but you do have purchasing power. You can quit supporting Almega in their customer abuse. If enough people refused to pay for poor or non-existent service, they would be forced to either fix it or sell... and maybe the next owners would do a better job of servicing their customers.

My problems with Almega ( of late spring '09 ) were resolved when I convinced my Arkansas state senator to contact the Office of the State Attorney General on my behalf. My tack was one of " Okay, maybe I am just a hick from northern Arkansas but I still have a fundamental right to be informed of national events. Who knows but that we might have a war or a national election or something like that. Does anyone have a right to move to this country and keep me in the kind of ignorance that 3rd worlders expect and maintain for women of rural villages? I don't think so."
Now, I face the same difficulty as others who cannot access channels because of a need for an " access key code ". Understand, gentle reader that this is not a physical impairment of service equipment; no technicians or repairs are needed to resolve this latest round Almega's inability to provide the services we are still being charged for. No. This is a blockage of dollars. Dollars are sent to Mr. Thomas Kurien's account and don't seem to get passed along to the wholesalers of the channels ( mostly Turner ) that we are missing.
