Is anyone else having trouble with Almega Cable?

Almega bought out Rapid Cable in our area in December - no notice, no warning, just a new name on the bill. Since then, service has gone from okay to pathetic. Most of the time, we are missing 20% of our channnels and the rest are fuzzy - sometimes they are all missing. Calls to service sometimes result in temporary improvement but usually we just get empty promises that it will be fixed "soon".

We have lots of trees on our property, which interfere with satellite reception. This is why we switched back to cable. At this point, I am so disgusted that I'm looking into clearing a few trees so we can go back to satellite.

I'm thinking that Almega tends to operate in areas where they have no competition other than satellite. This must be the reason they are still in business.

I too am thoroughly discusted with Almega Cable. We live in rural Oregon, and Almega bought out Rapid Cable. Every thing you wrote on your post could have been written by me. I have called them multiple times, and get nowhere. Everytime I hang up the phone with them, I'm so frustrated that I want to bang the daylights out of the poor defenseless phone! What is their malfunction? My only prayer is that they go broke, and somebody else takes us over. Where's my chainsaw!!!

I'm so sick of this poor quality, poor service and flat fed up of their rude behavior to customers. I had Charter cable which is great in my old home, since moving to Alvarado ,Texas Almega doesnt work half the time. I paid my bill 3 months in advance and my cable has not been working for over a week now. They charge for channels I do not even get. Please someone give this area to Charter Cable!!!!

Sounds like some middle eastern people bought it and like all the motels they buy let them fall apart and milk them as long as the cow is still alive, never any upkeep

Every time we call them in Winchester, Illinois, about a station going (like FSN Midwest here in Cardinals country) the people on the phone insist the station was "dropped" for "contract reasons" insisting that the previous operator (Rapid) was supposed to pay some bills or something but did not and so Almega is not going to pay them. The city fathers here signed a TEN YEAR CONTRACT with Rapid last April, so we are stuck.
I think it is high time everyone in every state could pick THEIR OWN cable company and not have these government-endorsed monopolies thrust upon them!!!!

Everyone,
Check this out. wwww.eonow.com , and look for the article about Almega Cable in rural Oregon, posted 4/01/09 - Athena, and Weston and Adams. They haven't had cable service for weeks due to a dispute between Charter, Rapid, and Almega. Very interesting.
(I'm not sure if you'll be able to read the article - sometimes it's restricted.!)

Still no service and all calls to them get a response of "it will be fixed soon". They owe me a month of free service (at least). When I told them to make a note on my account that I would not be sending another payment until my service was restored, they refused. Unbelievable!

I agree with you completely. No Cardinal games...you have to be kidding.
I have called them 10 times...different excuse each time. Poor reception...and missing many channels. Also tired of talking to someone in India every time I call. I want to talk to a real American...who can actually speak English. Service really went down when Rapid was bought out.

I spoke with someone at our city hall in Irrigon Oregon about the cable service. She didn't have much information, other than that Almega has yet to pay them franchise fees (how surprising....)but did say that she had heard that Almega had filed bankruptcy papers!!! I'm not sure how reliable that information is. Has anyone else heard anything?

Have called 14 times to try and get tech service to fix poor/no quality reception since 4/13/09. Same standard answer a tech wll be out to fix in a couple days....BS! Supervisor Charles and Craig Thomas are worthless and full of BS promises. Don't waste your time with the company. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Lie after lie after lie. And they say all there customer sercice people are located in Bedford TX..... that's a BIG lie also. Try India. They are not a reputable company!

After service was pretty much non-existant for over a month, we stopped paying the bill. Their response time in cutting off our service was amazing. If only they had been that responsive to our service calls... they would still have our business. Their loss.

Hello to everyone in Almega Cable hell! My 87 year-old mother and I live in Maroa, Illinois. I am fortunate enough to have Dish but Mom is surrounded by a neighbor's trees to therefore can't get satellite reception.
She has gone through at least 4 cable companies in the past 10 years. The last 3 were stinkers. She also got caught in the Rapid /Almega buy- out.
Sometimes she( and her neighbors) has stations ,some times she doesn't. No clear picture, service people don't show up or say it's in the system and disappear. 53.00 for basic, what a rip off.
There is 2008 cable legislation bill that is worth looking into.
I'm calling the state Attorney General. This is consumer fraud on a grand scale. No other way to look at it.I would urge everyone to call their state attorney generals and complain.
By the way Mom can't understand the people answering the phone so has a difficult time communicating with them. Good luck fellow sufferers.

Almega is the worst - same exact problems here in Center Pont, Texas. Can we sue for non-performance?

If we all band together perhaps we can get some relief. I just filed on on-line complaint with the FCC. PLEASE PLEASE everyone do the same.

Let's band together. File a complaint with the FCC, fcc.gov , and see if we can't get the government's attention.

I just filed my complaint. I can only hope that the FCC is more responsive than Almega.

I live in Perry, IL. My mother is 95 years old and has the same "no service Almega" as described by everyone else in this post. Calling does no good; the person answering the phone always replies "they are working on it." I'm sure the person answering the phone is in another country and has no control other than to pass the message along to someone else. This has gone on for months. Thanks for suggesting everyone contact the FCC. I will do that on my mother's behalf. Hope it gets some results.
