I was there around 1958/59 and have fond memories of the place. Good grounding for any boy, if there were more schools like it today then the youth would have more respect and learn how to survive. I was in the school orchestra (Oboe), football team and was in Dudley house. I remember Mr Elkinsgreen (Sport), Mr Foy (Music), Mr Breeze and am still trying to remember.
Hi Pete, I was at the school from 1957 to 1962 I do remember mr. Breeze he was the art teacher, I w2ill never forget him 1 sunday when we were all going too Nene Savage church I stepped out of line larking about next thing I was battered to the ground by him all the other kids stood there in shock I was told he used his fists not sure though but I never stepped out of line again, and I did get my revenge a year later, now you want too know how it was simple he used to make his own alderberry wine in the art room well 1 night we sneaked into the art room filled some bottles up with his brew went too the derelict cottage at the back of the school and drank it, withother drinks we had bought from the village got pallatic got caught next morning but for some unknown reason we only got a stern warning, if I had a chance I could tell a few stories.

Hi Guys,
Just found this site. I was in Blount in 1964/65 ish, just over a year. I loved it. I remember Terry Walker (Art) organising 'Boarders Burlesque', a variety production which was great fun. Mr Matthews ran the school Young Farmers club. I recall being taught how to judge poultry. Never been much use since, but it was fun. Anyone remember Tank? I do not recall his real name. He taught physics and Rugby. He once arrived at school with a newly acquired Jag Mk10 and got stuck when he couldn't get it into reverse!
I'm now a retired primary school headteacher.
Cheers all!
yes pete, I remember tank aka mr. Thorne science teacher and brilliant rugby coach I was there 1957 to 1962.

It's great to see so many people now leaving reports and comments/memories on this site. As I said before, I was there around 1960 and was in Dudley (D56). Things I remember most are: How hungry we seemed to get, being allowed out all day on Saturday and Sunday with just a packed lunch when we would walk for miles even up to the Clee Hills, that lovely little cinema in the village, the sweet shop, Wednesdays when we had the film in the assembly hall, oh and the cross country running which was torture and football, I remember there was a crazy lad who would refereee matches for us when we got 2 teams together. It's all coming back now but better get off and save some for another time. Shame that there is not more schools like it today, kids then would learn respect.
Hi Phil if your the lad I think you are I gave you a nick name (Puck) because you were allways asking for a light I actually thought your name was david. Anyway names I remember are john deacon , david hayden, ian boyd pete wood. And I agree with what you posted.

Just been looking at some old school photos posted on some websites on here getting flashbacks now, one when the the then headmaster (1961) I think his name was mr. Morris he had a heart attack during the school play and was rushed too hospital where he sadly died. Another was mr. Choppin when he dropped a rather expensive container of mercury, I think he got his nickname pranger from that incident, so many memories, is there any reunions scheduled in the future I would love to come and hopefully catch up with some old friends and aquaintes, if my spelling is bad I was bad at english my teachers name was mr. Thomas, I think. Not blaming hlm though.

Hi Steve, I was there from 1971 to 1973. I hated it there, I was bullied by a nasty piece of work called Phil Taylor. I had enough of it and left. I remember Mr Choppin, he was our house head in Dudley.

Sorry to hear you were bullied Ron its people like the guy you mentioned that spoil a good school, I enjoyed my time their but I must admit I did a bunk 1 night police found me at 2 o.clock in the morning about 50 miles away on my bike near church stretton. 2 teachers came to the police station to collect me then on the way back the car ran out of petrol, and we had to walk back from near Bridge north.I think mr. Choppin was 1 of them they were very good with me, not allowed my bike for 2 weeks though.

Hi David I remember your name I was in Dudley house 1957 to 1962 I had goofy teeth people I remember are Deacon. Elkington,Wood, Boyd, Cocharane, teachers I remember, are Mr. Lovatt, mr Thorne,[Tank] mr choppin, mr Oxendale, Mr Breeze, and the headmaster who sadly died in 1961. mr Morris. I remember a group of us getting drunk one night in the dererlict cottage at the back of the school, we were still drunk the next morning and of course rounded up by the teachers but never punished properly thank god. we got the booze courtesy of Mr Breeze's Alderberry wine he was brewing in the art room. we also got wine from the village shop. I can only think of some of the lads name's involved in this escapade they were Ian Boyd, A lad called Lynch [not sure if it was David or Phil.] Pete Wood, and a couple of others who,s names I can't remember.

Hi
My memory must be getting bad because i was at the school between 1970 and 1975 and can't recall you. Anyway, i was in Mortimer (my younger bro' Paul was also in Mortimer, but left the school 3 or 4 years after me). I'm still in the UK; Coventry, but hoping to move to Shropshire, soon. How's Germany treating you? It's one of my favourite countries (underrated by most Brits, i think). My sister lived there for 8 years and i visited many times.
