It seems a shame to allow a landmark like the williford high school building, built before ww2, to be demolished. It should be a historical land mark. It is a shame we don't have a mayor and city council that would try to save it.

It doesnt have to be the mayor, or council anyone can contact the Arkansas Historical Society and see about getting the school declared a landmark

what seems such a shame to me and makes me so mad is that our school was sold for just over $100,000, how does that make everyone feel? It makes me sick

What will happen to the land after the schools are tore down? I think its a shame, because the gym is fairly new. The elementary they are destroying now was built in 1972, and the Home EC building was built in 1989. I know the High School is old, but it is a piece of History. The building is one of the few standing WPA structures. I wish someone would consider putting it on the Arkansas historical society list. It is a piece of history that does not deserve to be destroyed.

I live by the school and when i walk out my front door I have to see the school and how they have tore it down. It is a shame that it could not stay open for the kids of this area. My son is only 6 and he loved walking to school every morning and walking home now he says he misses his old school and wishes he could still go there. I enjoyed having my kids that close to home i would walk out on my porch and watch my kids play on the play ground and I could hear my son yell there is my mommy and wave to me during recess along with my daughter yelling hi mommy from her play ground. I miss that so much and wish we still had it. I don't understand how it can be tore down and made into a church. I have nothing against churches but that is a land mark and should have been given to the town so we could have used its play ground at least for the kids to have played on and the school is historical, just leave it alone.
