But the school will get paid for it. The money will be used toward helping the school for the kids to have more books maybe new gym equipment or heating system or new windows. Its quite apparently our government will not pay for many things our children need in schools. Therefore the schools must look outside the normal box. Also do you use a cell phone? If you do you are apart of the toxic waves syndrome. If the schools do not have money the kids will suffer. Not unless you would like to donate your check to the school every week. I say go for it and give our kids the best education that the school can give them. Take the money, if they don't another school will be happy to take it. After all we all say to the school board can't you find more money for the school somewhere? Well they found a way and now some people are whinnying about it. I have read about this in the past. Some schools are making over 20 to 30 thousand a year for their schools. Why can't we do the same here, thats a lot of money for the kids and it will help the tax payers out to.

Oh this is just so funny I can hardly believe it. All of the millionaire's on Oblong Road and the rest of South Williamstown are going to have to come up with some high test BS to oppose this without sounding like a bunch of whiny nimbys. They can't kill this like they did the Clark/Waterline due to traffic, public safety, the risk of overdeveloping the promised land, etc. Better put your thinking caps on and come up with another pretext.

So while we're all still drinking bottled water, you can enjoy looking past a new cell tower as you gaze at Greylock. I hope it's one of the really tall ones with a strobe light on top. Karma at its best! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

I supposed having those phones plastered to their heads everywhere they go is perfectly safe, however.

The only incentive of a cell phone tower usually means the school benefits from the rent rates. But, as one whose husband died of Leukemia, and two children in that district. I strongly oppose this idea. Why not look at some of these studies:
study by Dr. Bruce Hocking in Australia found that children living near three TV and FM broadcast towers (similar to cell towers) in Sydney had more than twice the rate of leukemia than children living more than seven miles away.
Says Dr. Neil Cherry, a biophysicist at Lincoln University in New Zealand:
"Public health surveys of people living in the vicinity of cell site base stations should be being carried out now, and continue progressively over the next two decades. This is because prompt effects such as miscarriage, cardiac disruption, sleep disturbance and chronic fatigue could well be early indicators of the adverse health effects. Symptoms of reduced immune system competence, cardiac problems, especially of the arrhythmic type, and cancers, especially brain tumor and leukemia, are probable."
Biomedical engineer Mariana Alves-Pereira says exposure to cell phone towers can lead to vibroacoustic disease. "From what I understand, some of the complaints are similar in what is seen in vibroacoustic disease patients, which are people who develop a disease caused by low frequency noise exposure," she said. Symptoms can include mood swings, indigestion, ulcers and joint pain.
Dr. Gerard Hyland, a physicist who was nominated twice for the Nobel Prize in medicine, says, "Existing safety guidelines for cell phone towers are completely inadequate ... Quite justifiably, the public remains skeptical of attempts by governments and industry to reassure them that all is well, particularly given the unethical way in which they often operate symbiotically so as to promote their own vested interests."
According to the Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center, "Studies have shown that even at low levels of this radiation, there is evidence of damage to cell tissue and DNA, and it has been linked to brain tumors, cancer, suppressed immune function, depression, miscarriage, Alzheimer's disease, and numerous other serious illnesses."
According to Dr. W. Löscher of the Institute of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacy of the Veterinary School of Hannover in Germany, dairy cows that were kept in close proximity to a TV and cell phone tower for two years had a reduction in milk production along with increased health problems and behavioral abnormalities. In an experiment, one cow with abnormal behavior was taken away from the antenna and the behavior subsided within five days. When the cow was brought back near the antenna, the symptoms returned.

This is an appalling idea. There is documented proof that living (or spending significant time)in proximity to a cell tower promotes tumor growth and causes leukemia.

For the deniers, the telecoms thank you for eating up their diversionary drivel hook line and sinker! Remember it took 30 years to convince the public that smoking caused lung cancer thanks to the big tobacco PR machine. Here is a summary of compelling scientic evidence: http://www.bioinitiative.org/report/index.htm

My first clue was when Verizon wanted to put a cell tower on top of Fairview Hospital and the doctors objected!

Eating and breathing also causes cancer. Do you use a cell phone? All the hormones that is pumped into our cows and chickens. All the salt that is in can goods the exhaust fumes from cars and trucks. New carpets with bad smells. Bad building material from China bad baby food and dog food from them. Computers and microwaves are no good either. We might as well all die. Or go back to horse and buggy days.

How is that a remotely rational response? I own a cell phone, and use it for emergencies, so my exposure is limited and more importantly - optional. These kids will be subjected to high radio frequencies at close proximity for extended periods. Non-optional and a completely unnecessary risk to children, whose brains are much more susceptible to damage from RF frequencies than adults.

Do even read what it is you type? Ok ....in your world,do you realize most likely 9 out of 10 of these kids already have cell phones and talk (or text) most of the time anyway and even if they don't the're standing next to someone who is!Now to reality there is no evidence at all ...none to qualify you blantent lies,or the lies of any other moronic idiot who belives that crap.Thank You.

So that make it acceptable?
With regards to your denial of evidence - have you read the tens of thousands of pages of scientific research reports? Have you spoken to scientists and engineers about it? I have, and therefore I consider myself educated on the topic. There is significant cause for concern. But hey - if you want to continue denying it - go ahead and use your cell phone all you want - and while you're at it, why don't you take up smoking? Using your rationale, clearly that research must be flawed as well.
