Public education opposed at onset

Chambersburg Area School District, along with much of the state, is celebrating its 175th year in public education.

Remember, that is $54,977 for 1,440 hours (approx.) of work. That translates into $80,000 per year if one worked 2,080 hours (i.e. 52 wks at 40 hrs per week).
Even considering vacation and holidays, the average teacher earns approximately $75,000/year. Additionally, the benefits are fantastic and the retirement is better than nearly anything else in the private sector.

This truly a wonderful milestone for CASD. Every single year it's faculty and the school board are constantly bashed by a feeble minded and often inebriated general public and yet every year we find a way to be resourceful and get the job done.

To the faculty and my fellow school board members I just want to personally thank you for your dedication and hard work. Continue to do what's right for the children and our schools and everything will continue to work out in the end.

Year in and year out the feeble minded and inebriated general public will end up with egg on their face. Unfortunately they're probably not sharp enough to realize it.

also, it's a good reminder of how hypocritical it is that people of german descent (and of other european ancestery) deride today's immigrants for not learning english fast enough. 1 generation is faster than other groups that immigrated en masse in the past
