Remembrance to be held March 16 for UC Santa Cruz professor John Schaar
#1 Mar 25, 2012
Dr. Schaar spoke with feeling about his home in the Montoursville countryside and the farms the family owned. He described one that his grandfather owned and an adopted son ran until he was almost a hundred years old. It had a year-round stream running through where you could catch a limit of trout in an afternoon. It had a gas source near the house that was not exploited because it could not supply a town with natural gas. But it could supply the household until the end of time.
He was a great thinker and good man, a cross-section of the American grain. His like will not be seen again.
