What is the deal with not being able to wear anything with a hood on it? Is it some kind of safety issue? Never heard of it. I was asked today by several other parents who are trying to get answers. No other school in Mingo or Pike objects to this. It is getting cold and most winter clothes do have hoods. Any idea or opinion on this? I know that anytime I ever have to talk to that woman, I have to go thru her buddy, Ms Miles to do so. Very strong willed and will never talk to parents.

I pulled my kid out of WMS and she didn't even know his name or what grade he was in!!! The hoodie thing is silly!! They are the only school that has this rule and I think it is because they can't deal with some kids who want to act up by putting things in other kids hoods. Also heard that kids pull their hoods up over their heads and go to sleep. Seems to me the teachers should deal with the ones who do things like that and not punish the others. I was very disappointed with that school.

It's called control! Power hungry people love it. Could the school tackle the problem another way? Of course, but then that might take some resourcefulness. The key is respect. Teach kids respect and responsibility. Work with them, not against them. Set some well defined rules with the input of the kids. They will work with the principal then. And that Ms Miles is like a um um, hmmm...Oh I know. A female "Lurch" from the Addams Family. ROFLMBO! Okay that was mean of me. Truly though I instill respect in my children. They are to respect authority, and the rules. If they don't then they are in trouble. If I feel like there is a rule that is too harsh, then it's up to me to file a grievance with the BOE. But also go to Ms. Curry first. Maybe she can help you understand the rule better.

Clothes and fashion are a distraction. School children should be required to wear uniforms so they can focus more attention on their education.
