Mark Cline (former high school All-American, over twenty years as a assistant coach in the collage ranks)

Frankie Smith (former Tug Valley and Saginaw Valley State head basketball coach, led his '99 Panthers to a state title)

Allan Hatcher (former Williamson, WKU, Morehead, Grant County and current Perry Central head basketball coach, two state titles and one runner-up)
no brainer

Not Mark Cline...he brings his cousin Stan.

I personally like Stan and think Mark would be a good fit. But I don't think he would leave for Marshall. Hatcher is a proven winner and has coached at the high school and college ranks. Yet I don't think he would move back to Mingo County. So I think Coach Smith would be the best choice. Frankie knows how to win and he knows the area. He has coached at the high school and collage levels. He too is a proven winner and if the Miner Nation wants to win championships I think they should hire Coach Fankie Smith.

you was no good this year and lost the closest things to basketball players in the school to graduation you got one little guard from williamson who's fair the other one that played is going to leave that hole and have ya seen a middle school game ?? only teams with players will go to valley- and you think it will be better than last year c'mon man and don't blame estepp coaches help but coaches without players is like a wagon with flat tires - Mike smith couldn't help these guys and he would control the game and play defense and he was the best coach in basketball ever even if you don't like him -you can't coach small and you can't coach slow plus no idea in school how to run a program none in the administration and what do transfers get a meal card to the up on the hill wendys or a pass to the on site baseball park- as for us we will move to ky maybe a bobsled team but not basketball never gonna happen

I agree with you that Mike Smith was a great coach and I personally think that he would be a good fit. He won alot of ballgames at Burch and I think he would do a great job at Central. It may take a few years but I think he, Cline, Hatcher or Frankie can build a really good program. Frankie built a pretty solid program in Naugatuck and Mike ran a pretty darn good program in Delbarton. They both won state championships with only a few hundred kids to choose from. Now with over 700 kids I'm almost positive that they can win in Double A. Also, I am positive that all the kids that attend Mingo Central aren't one legged midgets that can't run or jump. Surely they can find six or seven boys that can play basketball and are committed to win.

If they was smart up on the hill they would get Greg Smith to coach their basketball team. The best coach in the county in my opinion.

They had over 700 kids this year and look what happened. And don't forget, the first part of the season, they all loved Estep. They only turned on him at the end of the season. All the talent graduates this year. Do you really think they can compete AA against the teams that were in the playoffs this year? NO THEY CANT. They better be thankful that the numbers were re-worked so they didn't go AAA. That would be a disaster.

I agree that Mike Smith was a "GOOD" NOT "GREAT"coach, but who could stand to watch such slow down games. I have heard from fans that quit going to games that Burch played because of this.
No wonder

We need good coaches for these kids in buddy league where fundamentals are taught. It's only gonna get worse.

Exactly. I mean, look who they have in the Williamson Buddy League, a bunch of guys who teach to run and throw it up. No fundamentals

Don't even bother with c team. It's nothing but chaos. The kids run around out of control smacking at the ball. You can't learn anything like that.

That's because you have people over it that only want to control it, it's not about the kids or they wouldn't let thongs go on down there like they do! It is midget league not a high school tournament!!!

AS before this is closer to becoming the school in mcdowell county than most realize look for community churches to set up more schools and enrollment at man, logan, tv and belfry to go up not one legged midgets but not far from it its over can't compete - schools would be better in sports even in small class if you still had burch gilbert mate wan and williamson , people should have listened to those people from williamson they was right i must now admit it
