Selling drugs is never right... But, before you judge someone harshly, have you ever had to make a choice between being in pain and having your heart pump correctly? Because until you have, you shouldn't put things like this up on Topix.
You'd be surprised how many little old ladies sell their pain meds so the can afford their very expensive, not covered by Medicare heart medicine. I've seen cancer patients sell their pain meds, to cover the cost of the newpogen injections they need, to build their white blood cells up. Medicare won't pay for it and they can't continue to get life saving chemo without it...
Not everything is as Black & White as you'd like to think. But, it must be nice for you, that you've never had to face that sort of thing. Hope you feel very superior...

Being a CANCER Survivor, I sat across from a woman (In our DOCTOR's Office) who couldn't even afford to pay the $400 shot, from the normal $1,500 vial. So, don't pull the 'nurse' hat out, you don't know everything.
I offered to give this woman half of my medications, so she could get her shots and chemo, once her counts were up. They would not let me, because it was a FELONY. So, they CRY FELONY when you offer to help someone, when it's NOT dope. It's a money making scam, and they have NO qualms with letting a 55 year old woman die, cause she can't afford part of the medications.
Rebuke that which is EVIL? Well, I hate to break it to you, SISTER in Christ. But, your judgment is EVIL!

I'm sorry, but you are wrong. On the weekend of Memorial Day, 2007. Our insurance paid out $14,000 for just a few vials of the stuff, to get my counts back up, to receive the chemo I'd had to miss that week. And, I gave my shots to myself. I love my country, but the insurance coverage provided to the old and infirm, is set up to provide the bare ethical minimum. Meaning, they'll give you Chemo, but if your cell counts can't fight the good fight, and make themselves be strong enough each Chemo time, to receive the next round, you ARE scrwd. They WILL let you die, and not batt an eye.
I ended up getting 30 vials of that life saving medication, 29 sat in my fridge for 9 mos. I begged the doctor to let me donate my meds as a donation stock, to be there just for the folks like my 55 year old friend, who sat across from me. May she REST IN PEACE... They wouldn't do it. It went to waste... sitting in my fridge, unused. If we weren't afraid of going to jail, I would've given them to her and she could've given herself her own shots. But, we had no idea how much of a dosage she would need... Cryin' [email protected] shame....
I've said this before and I'll say it again. Not every situation is black and white... there's a lot of gray out there. And until you've been the one dying, you have NO right to judge.
I agree that if someone is just out there selling their pain meds out of greed, making money off the misery and addiction of others, THAT is wrong. But, old folks are made of better stock. They are used to pain, physical and emotional. They handle it better than the younger generations. Some of them find themselves with no one and nothing to depend on but themselves. If they have no choice but to sell their pain pills to get their cardiac meds and food, or rent. I say, " more power to them. " Especially if they've spent their lives helping sorry deadbeat kids and grandkids...

I have seen companies like the makes of Lipitor, etc help people. It's more the companies of Nuepogen and such, that don't do freebies. My friend had to wait long periods in between Chemo, when she should've been getting it twice/month. In the end, the cancer overwhelmed her because the chemo wasn't given on time and she couldn't get the meds to bring her counts back up.

that is sad..but sometimes I try to look at certain happenings as ..it was her time..we are all born with a time to die according to the Lord..when I cant explain something I try to believe there is a devine intervention..perhaps this helps me in handling certain events.I hate for anyone or any family to loose someone but sometimes we dont know the spiritual picture of things in our life...Good Luck to you and keep fighting the fight.I hope everything works our good for you.

When treatment and medicine is available and one is denied simply because of money, that is NOT called gods will...that is called greed. Some people try not to see things like this because to admit that these things happen would change their outlook on how things are. People die in America everyday because they don't have the money it takes to stay alive. True dat!

There are old people all over this country that sell off a few of their meds each month to make a few bucks to try to survive. Right or wrong that's the truth. Papa and mama are "drug dealers".

You are absolutely right. And far be it from me, to tell some old man or woman, that after working hard their whole lives, they've got to starve. They barely make it on their tiny social security checks, the medications they are prescribed are very expensive; my grandparents meds cost $1,750/mo, for the two of them. Can you imagine what it must be like for an old person, alone? Trying to live off of $1,200/mo?

So, they end up doing what they have to do. I feel really bad for them...
