was at a funeral tonight at Rodgers Funeral Home when i saw one on the awfullest and rudest thing ever. The Old Regular Baptism Church started singing at 6:30 p.m then they started preaching. They used 4 preachers then when there part was over and time for the next preacher from another Denomination got up to do his part there was 12 to 14 preachers got up and rude fully and unpoliteful let and as they was leaving the was so loud and rude that it was disrespectful. My pastor Freddie Runyon was not at all pleased at what had happened.

Well ghostly dog, if you go to church, I am assuming that you do, since you are saying that Freddie is your pastor, shouldn't you be praying for these people? The bible says to forgive others, not get on topix and spread gossip....JUST SAYIN!!!

Please don't judge all by the actions of some. I was there and stayed on the small stand, then as I saw they had several singers coming up, I excused by self with their pastor to make room for their singers. I hugged his neck and told him I loved him before leaving.....Please know the whole story before passing judgement.

Don't Shave Me! If I Die Don't Shave My Face Bastards! You did my Uncle and Dad that way at Chambers. You might as well spit in a mans face and put him on display for his family to see. God intended me to be adorned with a mane, as he seen fit for the Lion.

Running your mouth on topix about stuff like this is so childish, grow up and try to be a man/woman

I'm going to be burned when I die. But that's jut my preference. I know how it feels to look at your dead dad in a coffin. And I wouldn't disrespect my kids that way to see me laying there dead. It can really mess your children up, especially if they are not of age. They can have a pretty vase with my ashes in it. That way I can be tucked into my wife's casket. What if I wake up in the coffin, only to be exhumed a hundred years later to find nail marks on the lid of my coffin. It is more cost effective as well. Like a Thousand bucks and that includes a silver vase.

Rick... Your Dad and Your Uncle were both friends of mine and "both" could be either Very Good or Very Bad ...it depended on how they were treated. I respected them and in return they always respected me. Always remember, You are the Captain of your own ship... Don't try to wear someone else's shoes... Make "Your" footprints the kind that you'll be proud for your son to walk in.

Just sayin' I was raised with one half of my family, Old Regulars. A lot of their ways are peculiar. But, they don't mean harm or disrespect. The Old Regulars feel it is wrong for them to listen to any preaching from other denominations. So, although is does seem rude, just know that there are members of their church, the Old Regulars, who would 'church' them, if it were found out that they held preaching with members from another church. If you can view it as them truly believing that what they did is 'right' in their church's eyes, it might help. My dad won't go to the movies, for fear of being 'brought up' in the church for doing wrong. He misses out on movies, he loves movies. But, his soul is more important to him and he feels the Old Regulars are the right choice for him to get to Heaven.

your comment is one the very few that sounded like you have knowledge of the situation...I dont know any of the above people...the one wants to be cremated..that is your choice, but it doesnt effect children to see a funeral..everyone in this area has..its all in how you are raised and taught..death is a natural thing..not a boogey story...the person who sounded like he was upset due to someone shaving his male family members..this should have been requested before hand..the funeral director would present the body as the family requested..the old regulars..you are right they dont believe in listening to preachers outside their faith..and that is their right....sound to me like all whom complained here..had their issues..but the family I am sure planned the funerals to their liking not yours,,you all need to adjust not the other people

Well, I don't mean to start any trouble. Like I said, I can see how it would seem rude, that they just got up and left. There have been lots of things that the 'Old Regulars' have done thru the years, that have hurt my daddy. And because he's my daddy, it hurt me too. He's been married before, so they consider him 'double married.' Many of them have walked out on HIM, because they would not take feet washing and communion with a man who had been married twice. However, there were also members who stuck by him and were good to him. He forgave the brothers who were ugly to him. So, I have tried to forgive them too. You can usually tell an 'Old Regular,' by their dress and appearance; women have long hair and wear dresses all the time. And, YES, it does seem a little Amish.
All I can say in their defense, is that so many of them are just good, old mountain folk. They are ignorant in how some of their 'ways' are perceived by the outside world. But, they have some of the most beautiful singing I have ever heard. When they were really hard on my dad, we might miss a Sunday here and there. I guess even he, could only take just so much persecution. But, I'd be up on the Mountain top and hear that beautiful singing. It was like Heaven. I still sing their music, to THIS day.
There are good and bad, man made and God made beliefs in every church. I'm sorry you were hurt by their actions.

I am so sick of seeing you disrespect all of the Starr family. That is my Fu#*ing blood, and we have worked for everything we have. WORK EVERY SINGLE DAY. PROVIDE FOR OUR FAMILY AND PAY OUR OWN WAY. I have read your posts for months now and have not said a darn word about it but I am sick of it. My Blood may not be perfect but we never claimed to be. Unlike you and yours. Let me tell you something you and your blood is far from perfect. The only perfect human that walked this earth was Jesus Christ. Looks to me like you are a little trouble making b!tch who spends too much time on topix to be doing your part to contributing to society. My STARR family must be paying your monthly check. Wanna come find me you sure can, I live at Boy Scout at Ragland only one house up there with Starr's in it. S. Starr

I used to live in the area. I have to agree with him/her. All the Starr's i knew didn't work, etc... maybe i didn't know you.
You can go back and see where Rick(?) hijacked all the post not him/her.
Lol..... you gotta love Topix. Not when someone threatens to kill children and families though.
My opinion, you don't seem bright either.

I didn't ask you for opinion. But just so you know you are wrong. Big Rick Starr worked for U.S. steel coal mines located at Sarah Ann in Logan County. I'm not sure if that was the mines he was injured in but I do know he worked there. Dave ran a store/ gas station in Red Jacket in Mingo County for years, until his death. How is that not working??? You are probably too old to ever know me. What I am saying smart guy is that you don't stereotype everyone in a family we all have good ones and bad ones. But Dave and Rick were never anything but nice to me.Let me spell it out for you. Just because one person with your last name would be a drug addict, does that make your whole family drug addicts? I don't hardly think so. And what kind of person, just because they are angry with Rick would talk crap about his DEAD Dad, Uncle and ALL STARR'S saying they should have been thrown in the river? That is just nuts. You all have a vendetta against Little Rick, have it but you need to leave all Starr's out of it. Because little Rick is not all Starr's. There are more than one set of Starr's in Mingo County Just so you know.

Thanks S. Nobody is going to come up that way I can guarantee that. They already know what's going to happen.
