Spoken like a true Don Blankenship Republican. It's not his money that drags him down, it's his arrogance and ruthlessness that destroys his character. And, Don will probably put a few extra bucks in your pay check next week.

I don't work in the coal industry, or anything involving energy at all for that matter. So strike that argument out. I'm simply a level headed individual who, instead of loathing and being jealous of those who are successful, wants to ensure that everybody in this country reaches their fullest potential through hard work and dedication. There's no reason why you and everybody on this board can't be as successful as he is. This is America, the land of opportuniy.

Seriously, why be jealous of Blankenship or anybody who is successful? Why not become equally successful on your own? Bringing him down does nothing to help you. So why wish him harm? Put the kool-aid down and think logically for once.

Instead of working hard, getting an education, and climbing the ladder like Don did, you idiots are content with trying to bring him down to your level simply because you know there's no way on earth you'll ever reach the success he has. And it's only because you won't try. You're stuck in the tpical Mingo democrat mentality that unions rule and anybody with money must be evil.
It's no wonder that we're the laughing stock of the state with the collectivist mentality you all have. You should strive to be like Don, not strive to bring him down simply because he's wealthy. That's called socialism.
Nah, the reason we're a laughing stock is because of people like you that have let industry in general have it's way. We've been treated like a third world country since coal was discovered. Hell even the arabs get something out of their natural resources. WV? We're last in everything thanks to the coal industry and the politicians they have purchased.

Wolf Pack- as I read your graceful soliloqy I think you are trying to convince yourself he is an upstanding citizen. Although he has prospered financially he is lacking in all other aspects. And after all the damage he has done to the State and people's lives, he still braggs he's one of us, an old home boy. Yes, America is the land of opportunity, and we are a tolerant nation, we put up with people like him. I'm not jealous, his money means nothing to me. I've never met the man, and I would never want to be caught in his company.

It is a sad day in the coalfields when one, such as Don,pumps millions into the election of a supreme court justice. Then when this man did not conform with Dons agenda:Don spends over 6 million dollars to get the same man out of office. If a coal miner made $75,000/year and worked 40 years in a coal mine;this would be over twice the wages he would make in a lifetime of hard work.Just how many of Dons average miners make over $75,000/year?It is sickening to see so many brainwashed people support one like Don.His mission is to exploit our people ,our mountains, our resources.Only more sad days are to come to the people of our coalfields if we let this continue.

Yeah it is sad. People suffer practically every spring with devastating floods, caused by pushing tons of dirt and rock from what used to be our mountains into the valleys, only to sent rampaging down by the first hard rain we have. And since that isn't bad enough, they fill old mine works with poisonious waste water to filter down into our aquifers and slowly poison the people who have no other water supplies.

For all you people who act like our state somehow loses out to out-of-state interests when it comes to coal, who do you think works in the mines? New Yorkers? What state gets all the tax dollars from these ooal companies, Oklahoma? No...West Virginia does.

Nemesis, you just said you have never met Don Blankenship, so who the heck are you to make a character judgement on someone you've never met? All you do is listen to what you're told. You're a sheep, just like requiter.

I have never met the man personally, I can tell you what he did to 8oo of us when he bought our mines out-he threw us into the street. If you don't know about Don, you must live in a cocoon. He loves to take people's jobs, bust the union, and antagonize people anyway he can. He hasn't moved to Richmond, because he loves to stay here in the coal fields where he can stay in people's face and aggravate the heck out of them, that's how he gets his kicks. I wonder sometimes how Marshall University turned out a product like this.

Don Blamkenship is no friend to anybody but himself and all his money. He doesn't care about the miners here and their families.

I bet the ones on here putting Don down were the first ones in line for the toy giveaway that Don did at the mall. Here's an idea though....if you hate mining so bad, why not move away??

Don Blankenship uses Appalachia like a used napkin. He rips the coal from the hills, pollutes the environment. exploits the people, blows his nose on us and moves on to another location to do the same. Case in point-look at his big show case mine, Marrowbone Development, it's history like all his other mines will be down the road. And, he better worry about the cheap natural gas, it will probably be the one that dethrones big coal. EXXON just bought XTO energy for 31 billion, they see gas is going to be the driving force in the future.

Sorry, the GDR fund was a little humor I threw in, Don doesn't need any money, a tractor -trailer couldn't haul all the money he has now. He's one slick dude, he's pouring money into India and China to develop their coal reserves while he has miners here that have been laid off 6 months. He's a perfect example of corporate arrogance and greed.
Thanks for the humor. We need a little humor to help overlook some of the brain washed people in our region.Don knows his days are numbered in our area.He wants to operate overseas so he can work people for nothing and run rogue operations with little or no regulation whatsoever. He has been playing the lay off game at his operations in my area.He usually lays miners off long enough to keep them from receiving unemployment benifits, then calls them back to work. The facts are, when coal prices skyrocketed,Don got greedy opened too many new mines, thus the market got flooded with excess coal.No doubt,he is the classic example of corporate arrogance and greed. If only others in our area could see through his smokescreen, instead they are seeing short term gains, not the long term damage to our region.

You idiot. Marrowbowne Development went under because they couldn't afford to pay the union contracts anymore so they shut down operation. I know people who worked there.

When you want a company to pay for your healthcare 30 years after you retire, do you think that' a sustainable model?

You Massey huggers are something else. They got the cream and dumped it on Ziegler so they wouldn't be responsible for the men's health and pension benefits. I was told by someone who works there that the pension fund had disappeared before Ziegler took over. The union had toeventually take over their pension and health benefits, because Massey dumped them. And , if you want to use names, you have to be the daddy of all idiots to get on here and peddle that crap.

For all the idiots that think being used like a third world country has been a blessing for our state for the last century, take a look around.

The only sheep here are you and those like you who enjoy being used like a cheap wh*re.
