I-64 East at Camp Peary closed due to sign structure damage - WTKR

The Virginia Department of Transportation will detour motorists beginning this evening at 5:30 p.m. from I-64 East before Camp Peary in York County.

I hope and pray the persons involved in this crash are ok. I passed it on my way to Richmond this afternoon and it looked horrible!

I got on I-64 westbound at about 3:45 at exit 238 and also saw the aftermath of this accident on the east bound lanes. I knew the overhead sign would need to be replaced or removed.
It appeared as though the front cab of the tractor trailer plowed through one of the large steel columns. I-64 is a very dangerous road. Drivers really need to pay attention and stay alert.
