60 DUI arrests are impressive, but, how many resulted in convictions? That tidbit of information would have been a great counter to this police officer's pursuit of a "record." The flip side is, just getting one impaired driver off the streets is a good thing.

Put Office Maunger on the list for Daily Press Citizen of the Year. We need to keep the roads safe and keeping drunk drivers off the road is the way to go.

Great, while he's DUI' ing how many poeple are getting shot in the East End or the rest of the City? Or, drug deals going down in Denbigh, somebody stealing something in your neighborhood? Drugs, stealing and weapons are the deal. He is NOT a Gladiator as you potray. Cops in NN can only find and catch DUI, they are scared to death to stop cars with 4 or 5 occupants! DUI's are and easy catch! How many patrol the neighborhoods you live in? When was the last time one rode thru your neighborhood? Stop the DUI and spend time fighting crime where we live! Cops can't catch crimanls only DUI's!!!!! and TRAFFIC stops. Listen to your scanner.

MADD gave awards to Hampton PD - 99 Arrests by 5 Officers, James City - 34 by 3 Officers, NNPD - 238 by 8 Officers, Poquoson PD 11 - by 2 Officers, Williamsburg 52 - by 2 Officers and a Sgt, York - 76 - by 3 Deputies and State Trooper area 37 and 46 - 182 by 7 Troopers. We're trying. These are the 2006 Numbers according to MADD. I know for a fact we hit at least 300 with the same few Officers making the arrests. Most work Central precinct. 5 of the 8. 2 North and Mounger south. These numbers shouldn't be a surprise. Rumor has it that we're starting up a DUI unit with 4 Officers and Sgt. I hope those out there who think we should be doing other things with our time look at the numbers. 8 cops out of 400 + making DUI arrests.

He should sit outside the 'FOP' and go shoot for the record. I think he could arrest at least 62 off duty police with a BAC range, oh let's say, 0.10 to 0.32 slumpped over the wheel in a ditch.

I guess it's all about getting your picture in the paper. Watch out for law enforcement on a "crusade". It doesn't matter what the violation they can become dangerous to citizens rights.
Eastender, their is an old saying. Dr. Heal yourself first. These shooting will continue until all in the community take a part in cleaning up.

(NNPD) 238 by 8 Officers = if you drive through Newport News intoxicated you are definitely more likely to get caught. NNPD is to be commended for taking such a proactive approach to DUI enforcement. It's worth the effort.

Yes there are indeed many other problems here in NN, but many can be avoided by not being in the wrong place and choosing your company wisely. However, I can't control who drives down the street and whether or not they are intoxicated, therefore I'm glad he's helping to take the a**holes that could potentially put my family and I in danger off the street. Thanks!
