Early 1970's - Remains of 2 teenaged girls found by National Guardsmen

I saw an article in a Detroit Newspaper within the last few years about unidentified remains in Michigan. In one case, soldiers of the Michigan National Guard were cleaning up the area around the base in the spring when they found 2 teenaged girls frozen in the snow. I only remember that this happened before 1973. I don't remember what county ended up being responsible for the remains which were still not identified at the time of the newspaper article. Does anybody remember this case or know who is in charge of it?
