This was a joke what kind of person would con 3000 people to line up outside in the freezing snow with there children and wait to get help with Christmas. This was the work of the cedaridge ministries, let me explain church groups from south carolina came to ky "the appalachians", as they call us, to help with donations of toys and clothing, etc. Well the gym was filled with lots of children, parents but not every child got something my friends little boy cried because he thought santa would be there and we sat and watched bags being filled with toys,we didnt stay we left along with more people...this was just another scam by your rev.keith decker. If i knew he was the man behind this scam I would had told my friend who tried help us this christmas "NO THANKS".

I took my two young children and when we got there it was already crazy even though we were hours early. The program didn't start on time and by the time we left (with sad used toys I could have gotten for a quarter at a yard sale) my kids were exhausted and I was ready to cry because this was my only opportunity to get them gifts since I'd been working and unable to sign up for any other assistance. Very disappointed!

Well if you could have afforded to buy toys at a yard sale, you shouldn't have been there. People are always looking for a handout. The ones that really need it get left out. Kids that really deserve this would be happy to receive a secondhand toy. This is pathetic. It's just like anything else, you mention free and everyone is there - let the ones who really need it, get it. Just like welfare, most receiving it are in better shape than those who work and live paycheck to paycheck. Wrong to bitch about something that you probably don't deserve anyway.

From what I read in the paper it was supposed to be based on need and only receiving tickets from Family resource centers at school or local churches. I also thought it said only 200 tickets were to be handed out. THE tickets should have been for children only! If you didn't get toys and still need them check with the local Good Will I know I personally took a whole box load a couple of weeks ago. I feel sorry for the ones that really need it. the sad thing is the ones that were in line and got what they wanted were more than likely the ones that have buggies full of pop at the first of the month so they can sell it for their smokes. IF they can trade for that surely they can trade for a couple of barbie dolls and hot wheel cars. Everybody has had some bad luck this past few years and needs help...but if you have a computer and internet why would YOU be in line for FREE toys?(don't give me the crap about it being the neighbors) Just wondering.

I didn't even see it in the paper, but I did hear something about you were supposed to have a ticket to get in? I am saddened to hear that this supposedly joyous event turned out to be such a nightmare, which is what it sounds like from reading these posts! I think the suggestion about checking at Good Will is a good one for those of you who left in such disappointment. God Bless All of You. It hurts me to think of those little kids crying. If they do this again, I sure hope it is more organized and there is at least a Santa there. If I had enough money, I'd buy every kid in Whitley Co. a nice gift. We had it hard growing up, and our parents always bought each of us kids one really nice gift and that was it! Also, another idea is to see if you can get involved with the Shop With A Cop Program coming up! Call City Hall and see if you can get your child in on that! Or has that already happened? Just a suggestion! God Bless You People.

i signed my kids up with shop with a cop at the school and the person in charge of picking the names of the families that are handed in for it doesn't like me so my kids didn't get signed up for ANYTHING...i personally think that the entire list of people should be handed over to the police offercies and let them pick the children /families at least that way it would be random and not based on whether or not your liked by someone...it wasn't right my kids got no assistance what so ever
maybe i shouldn't complain...the person in charge of names probably got a splinter in their behind from riding their broomstick to work that day...

No, I do not blame you for being ticked off in the least. I would still call City Hall and see if someone there can help you. It is worth a try anyway, if they haven't already had it. I can't recall the date set for that event. I wish you the best of luck!

Everyone struggles in time and just because you have a computer and internet don't make you rich. They were so many sad children that walked away, this was made to look like such a great event made possible by cedaridge and Keith Decker, honestly it was just another way that he can bring in the funding. God will not judge us because of being poor or middle class. By using gods name to fatten your pocket and to give your self a name this is something everyone that sees through his scams can judge and stop.

you must be some of keith's family or church members cause thats the only people who got anything at the giveaway and i have never seen anybody at that church who really needs a hand out cause keith lines his and their pockets with all the funds that he get like the one hal rogers gave him of $54,000 for his roof to be fixed and a forklift to off load all those semi trucks of food that he doesn't get for those 4000 people hesaid that he helps but when u ask for a little asst. your better off to ask a real church or church person not that con artist so yeah keep yr dumbass shut because your just one in the same as he is with your lined pockets

The point was if you are struggling then the first thing to go would be the internet, computer, cell phones, cable and so on....some of these people don't have all their ducks in a row.

Internet, cell phone, cable per month about $100-$150 dollars that is a lot of presents that can be bought over a couple of months. Just think about it.

I attended the event and believe me, there was too many people there. There was NOT enough stuff for the kid's. I just wanted to get my child a decent gift and left dissapointed. I was one of the first people in line and got cut through by about 100+ people. I didn't even want anything for myself, just my child. This thing should have been based on income in the first place.
