Nope, same town. Sounds to me like you're one of the few families that hasn't been affected by the profound use of drugs here in the 'burg. Just give it time, it will be at your doorstep, too...

drugs is no excuse for a whole community to fall apart. if there is a problem,it's a community problem.the problem most of the time is just a weak leink in the chain.

Back when I was in high school the worst thing my friends and I ever did was drink a few beers. Now they finding kids with pills and meth on them. It really is sad.

I LOVED this place, when I was a kid. It was great, now the DRUGS have taken over, and now I am afraid for my grand babies. What is this place going to be like in a few years? I hate to see it, or I don't wan't to see it.

I agree with you, It's pitiful. There are these people who think it's okay because they have a scrip but why are our Dr's writting people scrips for loratabs, perc 10's and other strong pain meds just because they come in and say they have a back ache or that they have headaches. I think it's bull crap. If you can prove that these people are in desperate need of pain meds then fine give them their pain meds otherwise tell them to go home and take an Advil or Tylenol for their headache or an IBUProfen for their backache. A prescription is not an excuse to go home and down your whole bottle!

you obviously have no apprecation for a really good buzz. Calm down, take a xanax and call me in the morning. You'll see the light. Or lack thereof...

It still seems like the same wonderful place where I grew up. If anything, it's better. The streets and roads are nicer. We now have a pretty extensive city park system... with the old city park, the water park, Briar Creek with picnic tables and fields and the college track nearby for walkers and the nice Bill Woods park downtown.
How many places have a beautiful college campus in the middle of town?
The people are friendly as ever. I've lived other places, where people aren't as nice. Count your blessings and be proud of your town!

There are no locks on the exits. If you think you can find a better place to live and raise your kids, you are not doing yourself or them a favor for settling here. Noone would blame you for leaving. Good Luck!!

I agree. I moved back after 28 years. It changed a lot. The parks are better, the roads are better, the people are wonderful, and my kids love it here, and they have been everywhere. But there is a bad pill problem, that is all i hear about.Thank GOD for all the wonderful churches here.
