Subject: Buying a home in Pioneer Heights
It started in 2006 that we were looking for a home to buy and our family was very excited about it. One day we came across a MSL number and looked up the home. To our amazement the house was wonderful and the price was incredible. The houses we were looking for where we lived at the time looked just as wonderful as this one but there was a downfall. They were priced from $210,000.00 to $300,000.00. So when we saw it was only $121.000.00 our excitement soared. When we came to look at it and opened the door it still had that brand new smell. Right away we put our bid in on it and got the home. Well the first 2 weeks was wonderful. We were excited to start working on our home and our yard. The neighborhood seemed nice and quiet. We figured most of the people here had just moved in also as the yards were not attended to as ours was. We had soon learned that Pioneer Heights is the worst place to purchase a house. We did not realize that most of the people here are renters who do not care of the fellow neighbor. There are cars all over the streets that you can not drive down but only one car at a time and children unsupervised by parents. There are cars and trucks racing all up and down the roads and putting children's lives in danger here. The yards are un-kept and the landlords do not care on who moves in here as long as they get their money from the state or the people living in the homes. Many reports have been filed on families for excessive speed and vehicle noise and nothing has been done about it. The cops play favoritism with the people here while the home owners are the ones who have to suffer no matter how many times we call them out. I see nothing being done by the Mayor of this city on cleaning up such a nice neighborhood. Because Pioneer Heights is on the border of Yamhill Co. and Polk Co. our neighborhood just happens to be in Polk Co. and so when there are issues that come up on this they say it is Polk Co. problem and there is nothing they can do. So, when talked to Polk Co. they say that Yamhill Co. is contracted out to take care of our neighborhood. Now we as home owners are paying tax dollars to have nothing done about the racing cars, revving engines all day, children unsupervised and allowed to run havoc through our yard ruining what we try to make, putting our small children in jeopardy of being ran over or cussed out by a full grown adult, friends and family visit and see and hear all the vehicles all up and down the streets, trash and loudness and they say "wow, some neighborhood you got yourself into", and last but surely not least, that the way it looks here makes the value of our houses decrease and the sad thing is, it is driving out the home owners that have taken time to make it look nice. So if you are thinking this a nice neighborhood because the houses look nice and the prices are cheap, do not be fooled as we were. There is nothing but headaches with this neighborhood when it should be a beautiful neighborhood. Now not all the renters here are bad but,'one bad apple makes a bad sauce.' So my fellow homebuyers. Watch out where you buy in Willamina,Oregon.
Now I know you have your bad and good everywhere, but dang it~ I get mad when I have to worry about my own child or grandchildren in what we thought was a nice neighborhood, and I get mad that the real estate agency painted this wonderful neighborhood and we end up just like the movie 'Funny Farm' with Chevy Chase. I am not downing EVERYONE in Willamina because we have met some really awesome folks. I guess I just needed to vent this out because ... well just because,I don't really need a reason.
