It's become a huge welfare city - you can go to some grocery stores and no one is using money or checks -- it's all food stamps and WIC. Only about 30% of the population bothers with private insurance -- the rest don't worry -- the suckers aka taxpayers will have to pay for them.
Not to mention all the welfare recipients that actually live in Juarez. Go to any Walmart, but especially the one on the Northeast side, and probably 80% of the people using their "Lonestar" card walk out and get into cars with Chihuahua plates! Add to that the kids that are driven over every day from Juarez to attend school in El Paso, that the citizens pay for through outrageous property taxes.
We had to move back, couldn't afford to live there anymore. With all the mojados coming over daily to work, we couldn't make a living..55 cents a square to lay tile,$120 to paint a three bedroom apartment two colors. Ridiculous!
As to the health care. If you're an illegal you can get free care at Thommason hospital, but of course if you're a property owner or legally employed that's not an option.
Are you a native El Pasoan?

Malamute, did you read the article in Texas News/forum about Voter fraud? Fifty one letters sent to Harris County (Houston,TX) from El Paso. You might find it interesting.

Gosh, why should they worry? A silly thing like health care, when they can use ER's as clinics. The newest Gig the taxpayer with privatization with a social sounding Buzz is: "We must insure all the children of the nation" . No mention if they are all citizens.

Here in Texas, they have commercials, pleading with folks to contact Congress to encourage insurance for the children.

Who are the undocumented immigrants?
FACT: ILLEGAL ALIENS are INVADERS and agents of Reconquista who are taking America down to the level of the Third World cesspools they came from!

FACT: ILLEGAL ALIENS can be charged with a federal misdemeanor.

FACT: Those who aid and abet ILLEGAL ALIENS can be charged with a Federal Felony.

It's been "on the books" for 20 years and has nothing to do with the Sensenbrenner Bill or the SCAB (Senate Comprehensive Amnesty Bill).

I don't make a lot of money; I am raising two children by myself, attending college full-time, and working two part-time jobs, neither of which pays all the bills. And yet you don't find me criticizing illegal immigrants for taking advantage of my own tax burden. Honesty, it's mind-shattering how many self-professed "Christians" are turning their backs on those they are called to serve.
It is my faith (UU) and shared humanity that have directed me into a life a service. And it is service to all people; not just to the people who I deem deserving. Who am I to decide? Similarly, who are you to decide?
shrl:
Your statement, my two part time jobs donot pay all the bills and college is very costly. How is your bills paid? Also, you state, "you donot find me critizing?" You just did, you critize tax payers for doing their job and paying taxes but dismissed people that expect others to foot their bills who don't pay taxes.
Your statement:"How many self-professed Christians that are called to serve". In the bible, it states to aid the widows, disabled and orphaned children, not moochers. Mainly, GOD is saying to serve them in their needs but mostly saving their souls. Yet when they pray to idols, voodoo practice, witchcraft and this is what Mexico is into, GOD would be astonished if we support this. I am ashamed of people who condoned this belief.
Your statement that GOD wants some people to be over burdened in order for others that break the law by not obeying the law for legal status, not paying taxes, getting free health care, school, food stamps, etc.?
This is in the bible, it is called coveting, "Thou shalt not covet". It also, states, "All shall be taxed". It also, states, "If you don't work, you don't eat". Meaning, no food stamps. I am a christian, I find it very hard to work and verily make it in order for others to received it free.
Don't you think GOD will judge the Mexican gov. for the way they do their people and send them over here for the tax payers to support while they live in Mansions?

<quoted text> If you're a teacher then you mucst know the true "hidden corporate agenda" (spoken like a true non-thinker) is to make sure that the electorate and the workers are as ignorant as possible. I would say the public schools have done an excellent job of that. Kids "graduate" from high schools and colleges all over the country without an iota of critical thinking skills, they just parrott whatever feel-good bumper-sticker slogan they happen to have agreed with. I have agreed with both the left and the right at times, because I can read and I read critically. How many people today bother to do so? A very small minority.(if you'll excuse the pun). So back to immigration. I don't have a problem with the complaints of so many that the government takes forever and makes it impossible to all but a few to become legal. What I do have a problem with is that we, the taxpayers, are funding all their medical care and education (no matter how unenlightening it is) while Jose and his wife are driving around in $40,000 pick-up trucks with 5 kids in the back. We need to make it easier for the immigrants to prove they are capable of contributing to, not sucking dry, our economy and we need to find a way to force Mexico to make their immigration policies as lax as ours are so I can migrate to Mexico and participate fully in their government just like the illegals do here. It's all a huge mess and if we don't stop being PC about it then we'll all wind up living like a third world country.
YEP. And, if we don't get our boys and men back from IRAQ real soon, looks like we'll have to tell the non-English speaking illegal aliens to learn Japanese and Chinese so they can negotiate or fight for immigration reform with them while trying to whittle down our massive national debt. God Bless Our Troops. Send all the ILLEGAL ALIENS THERE - SHOULDN'T BE HARD. Besides it would be quite funny watching the communication between a Middle Easterner and a non-English speaking ILLEGAL ALIEN.

No -- not a native. And yes -- it's pretty glaring a problem in El Paso -- the use of food stamps and free health care. Mexicans having baby after baby at American taxpayer expense. And they have no pride at all when it comes to welfare handouts.

I'll have to check that out. In El Paso the Mexican stations actually ADVERTISE food stamps and Medicaid. It's pretty easy to understand why the national debt has so quickly risen to over $8 trillion -- and this is not something we can keep up for much longer.

Thank you for checking it out. "Malamute" I would not know how to do this, but I am old. tee hee.

Can you copy the Advertisements (dvd) then do an English translation (some of us still do not speak Spanish ...) perhaps even (if you are a computer whiz)

place the English..words in a translucent overlay... over the video....and post to YouTube and some of the organizations that get the word out? That would be outstanding.

If not no problem...gosh I can come up with ideas but understand the inability to bring it into being.

Agreed.

Folks, let's all agree not to feed the trolls.

It just feeds their self-delusion that anyone gives a rat's ass about what they think or say.
