First let me say I applaud Dr. White's efforts to challenge african-american parents and students to improve behavior and academic performance and close the "gap". He has done this at both Washington Township and IPS.

However, from what I read in the Star concerning his comments at Tech last month, both the white grandfather and Mary Louise Bewley correctly paraphrased what Dr. White was recorded as saying and certainly correctly assessed the intent in his message.

The rebuttal article from the Star reporters was unnecessay "spin".

The attitude of Mr Rokita never ceases to amaze me when it comes to "public service." This duty seems to be secondary in his opinion. However, let me point out that it was Mr. Rokita's office that rendered an opinion on the sale of IPL stock by the then members of the Board of Directors of IPL and also Mr. Rokita's political allies, no less. Seems to me that is a very direct connection to members of The Indiana Energy Associaton. Evidently Mr. Rokita has not read the publication titled "Bluebook" A Guide to Indiana State Ethics Laws. If so, he would find on page 3, referring to State Officers and Employees, "You may not solicit or accept any gift (or favor, service, entertainment, food or drink , under any circumstances in which it can reasonably be inferred the gift could influence you to give special consideration to an action in your official capacity." I would suggest that many of the members of
The Indiana Energy Association may at some time have securities registered with the Securities Division which is directly under the supervision of Mr. Rokita. To deny such connection is, to put it politely, "An Assault on Reason."

I think Old Timer has hit upon something. Do you think our Inspector General will investigate?
