The only way to balance our education budget is to lower pension costs to .33 of the current total. Nobody deserves over 1/3 of their salary in their pension.

Your kidding ! SS age is 65 or more . Public workers pension was designed by legislation to let them all retire in their 50s . What would they live on and still let them return equity to the Pa economy . Pa can't do without all this public retirement income that is spent in the state ? You can change the legislators at the voting booth and add more people to the greed .

Pa teachers dont want to strike but they will . Keeping up with inflation and gas prices will be their agenda. Oh yeah, and their education should pay as much as drs. Take a pay cut like the people paying your way do.

Here is what harrisburg has worked on for the last couple of years ?

State pension reform , no idea where this went ?

Property tax reform , never happen ? Just more bull

Reducing the size of legislature , it will still be a joke 30 years from now ?

Jerry Sandusky coverup , now you're talking ! the tickle monster may know a few things about why they voted no on any federal investigation ? That should keep all those pervs in h-burg busy for a few years ?

This is a rough estimate . The real figures would make you throw up.

For a teacher who averages a salary of $ 62,000 during the last three years of 35 years of service ,the annual retirement check for life would be more than $54,000 .

Add on a one time payout , withdrawal of all contributions + interest , medical benefits that the taxpayer pays above what little it costs HOP for a retired teacher , Social Security they will get after after seven or ten years waiting for it on a meager $54,000 a year on pension and you get a post retirement income somewhere around 120 to 140% of pre retirement income . No wonder these poor bastards need a cost of living increase every year ? They retired too early , lived too high and feeel entitled to force the taxpayers to pay for all the extravagance . Dependents can get on the same medical plan . As they go on strike, get raises , increase the school property tax to the point our drandchildren will get stuck with the bill . The teacher running for state rep got a bigger set than he knows what to do with .
