You are right on point. I moved here in 07' thinkinking I could help, I bought 4 houses. I was about to start the renovations on the houses, but lo and behold The City of Wilkinsburg was demanding for me to pay the back taxes of a Dead previous owner, I knew nothing about!!
It was about 60,000.00 Per house!! I've asked them, why they didn't sell these houses, when they were in good shape and could have been kept up by a responsible, tax paying owner. Well, there was no reply on that subject.I've checked the assesments and there are owners who have owned these abandoned buildings for over 20 years. It looks like Wilkinsburg is doing this on purpose. Long story short,I've sold one house and am giving two of them back to wilkinsburg and my fourh house is in pittsburgh and guess what, Pittsburgh erased the dead owner's debt. Why? because they are just glad to get rid of a bad debt on the tax roles.
