In my mid 20s In the early 90s I moved to the mountains of NC and discovered this true American legend. He encouraged me to buy an acoustic guitar and learn to play. I even named my yellow lab after him. No one will ever match his ability to flat pick and his signature thumb and only one finger style. His music lives on in the festivals of Appalachia and Doc lives on in our hearts he is a true national treasure.
