The DOC Corrections Officer Cadet Training Academy is 6 weeks.

C.L.E.E.T. at this academy was 11 weeks. I believe, but am not sure, that this was changed to about 14 weeks now. That's where the 3 different time amounts come from.

You asked why not try to get it changed instead of griping about it on this forum. Do you think I will be able to convince DOC to send a Warning Bulletin to spouses? I don't think that I will, but I can sure try. Spouses have no other way of knowing what these training academys are like unless someone tells them. I would venture to say that the Ada CLEET is like this too from the pictures I've seen, but I couldn't say for sure.

I can see where where the misunderstanding happened on the 3 differing time amounts came from. My fault on that one. I understand you trying to get out the word on some of the stuff that happens and have no problem with it. I can assure you that my CLEET academy was nothing like what you have described though. We did have some people who went out after class and drank, but there were no affairs or anything like that. Cell phones were a huge no no in class as was sleeping. I actually know of some from another academy years ago that were sent home for going out and drinking. Obviously not everyone gets caught and it probably differs between DOC and CLEET in Ada as well as other training locations.

There are photos on the web of people at both academies drinking and partying. For DOC, there are pictures on the web of people actually sleeping in class. There is proof of cell phones and texting in class. And I agree that it may be different policy at Ada, I don't have any first hand knowledge of that. At the DOC CLEET Academy, the drinking is at least every Tuesday night at the pavillion near the main entrance of Robber's Cave and the affairs are well known, except to the spouses, until it's too late.

From the sounds of it, you may have a little personal problem within your own relationship...or past relationship from the sounds of it. CLEET is now 16 weeks long and you are correct about one thing, the adults are left alone at night....wonder why that is? Because they are ADULTS! adults that make their own decisions. Don't get your panties in a wad and blame it on DOC...would you prefer the employees of DOC not receive the required training to be Certified Peace Officers? That sounds like a safe decision. I'm sure society would appreciate convictedfelons being supervised by the average Joe. However, your mistaken on the drinking...yes, It does happen but not "every Tuesday at the pavilliin." it's a stressful training ad I the ADULTS choose to drink every once in awhile, so what! Speaking of tax dollars....how bout you take some benefits away from the welfare recipients and pay the DOC employees what they deserve!! Why don't you step into a pair of those shoes and then tell us how you feel

I know what goes on there and I know how much drinking and when and where it's done. Apparently you do too.

I did not say the adults were not responible for themselves. I said DOC plays a part in it, and then they set policy for their books, but don't follow it.

I would prefer that DOC provide this all of their training and not just CLEET training and enforce the policy while they do so. I would prefer that DOC not set these academies up 100's of miles away from their homes for months at a time and then set up a breeding ground for the kind of crap I have talked about. By the way, the drinking is not a "so what" when it's done by peace officers that are driving state vehicles when doing so.

These officers are not at training to live like high school kids. They are there, on OUR TAX DOLLARS, for important, quality training. They can not receive that training if they are texting all through class, sleeping in class, hungover in class, hungover for physical training, putting themselves and others at risk while drinking and driving state vehicles, etc.

When going to Basic Training for the Army, they make policy and follow for it for those ADULTS. Part of that policy is besides training, males and females have no contact. Why? Because you're not there to act like fools and children on federal tax dollars, you're there for important training. TIME TO GROW UP.

By the way, you don't know what shoes I've stepped in. Don't assume that you do or you'll make an ass out of yourself.

People like you are the problem. The ones that don't think affairs are a big deal. I sincerely hope for you that you or your children never have to deal with the devistation of an affair and you find out just how important it is.

So if affairs aren't important to you, what do you think about millions of dollars the state spends each year to educate people who aren't there learning? But gives them certification anyway. What do you think about people driving state vehicles while drinking? Will it be important to you when one of them hits your child or your mother and kills them?

For those of you whose spouses or significant others are headed to C.L.E.E.T Training in Wilburton at the Gene Stipe Training Center, try to talk them out of it. They have rules and policy to follow, but no one makes them follow it. It is a co-ed dorm and there are TONS of affairs going on inside. Do not let Oklahoma DOC or some homewrecking tramp mess up your relationship.
What goes on at C.L.E.E.T, stays at C.L.E.E.T.

Well CommonSense or lack of CLEET is also sponsored at the DOC training center in Wilburton and they are not separate entities. The correctional officer academy is put on there as well, and so is two basic peace officer CLEET classes a year, if you don't know what a peace officer its on all troopers, deputies, police officers, probation parole, CERT officers, OSBI, ect certification cards the difference is the powers of jurisdiction on the commission card that is a different card.

Concerned dude, I am terribly sorry that you went through this, although it does not surprise me in the least and I'm sure that you are not the only one. Are you talking about the CLEET academy in Wilburton? I have seen some of the pictures from that class and suspected it probably happened then, but I do not know for sure.

Your post makes me very angry because DOC is aware of the things going on and have been aware for quite some time. Before any of you jump in here, I AM AWARE that adults are responsible for their own actions and DOC has no control over adults. HOWEVER, DOC is aware of what is going on and the terrorist actions on the family that keeps happening at this training facility. DOC is the one that continues to send their employees to this academy. If they would just ENFORCE THE RULES AND POLICY that they already have in place, it would put a stop to a lot of it. And since they were already put on notice that their policy and rules were being broken, then they are PARTLY responsible that it has happened again.

Concerned dude, I am curious. Do you know the details of the affair? Was it happening in the rooms? The rooms where DOC's policy states the opposite sex are not allowed into at ANY TIME?

I am not trying to be rude or anything like that but you are WRONG. Wilburton has no basic officer academy. Wilburton does have a COPS program where one can attend college and get an associates degree, which allows you to be certified as soon as hired full time. When you do this you are a college student though, not a CLEET Cadet. I don't know what you are trying to prove talking about the commission, that has nothing to do with any of this. I take it from your name that you are a peace officer, which means you should already know that ALL full time peace officers now have to go to Ada to get certified unless they go through the COPS program at a college.

Commonsense, I've already provided the links that prove there is a CLEET academy in Wilburton at the Gene Stipe Facility on the college campus. Everything the above poster said is correct.

Scroll to the bottom and you will see the CLEET class schedule. You will also see a link for the policy and rules that have to be followed while all officers are at training at this academy. Interesting reading.

Oh yes, and some officers also go to this academy for Firearms Instructor training for 5 days. A lot of times, these training classes overlap each other and there are several classes of officers in the academy at once.

I am not trying to hijack this thread. I am just saying that all new hires at local agencies go to Ada for their training. There are exceptions of course, agencies such as OHP, OCPD, Norman, and Tulsa, that have their own academy. DOC may certify some of their people in Wilburton as peace officers, but it is for DOC people only. You can go to the CLEET website. www.ok.gov/cleet , and see that it is the only academy in the state open to all agencies.

Thankfully there will be no more CLEET academies at the DOC training center after the January class, at least until the recession is over. Sad thing is, DOC could have saved a lot of wasted money if they had stopped it before and may not have had the need to furlough their employees. Maybe a good thing out of the struggling economy is that a few lives and a few families can be saved. With the exception of the officer training academies that will be still be held there.

There was alot of cheating going on in the cleet academy in Wilburton the summer of 2009. Almost every female there had multiple partners.
