Assessments: It's where you live

Lately, even those have started to suffer a bit Location, location, location. When it comes to real estate assessments, where a property is can matter greatly in how much of a bite is taken, come tax time. via Hampton Roads Daily Press

Why Why should retirees like myself be "Taxed out of our home". My retirement income is flat, but expenses continue to soar. Because of the stupid assessment system, I am looking at having to sell the home I have worked for all my life, simply because others around me have sold for huge prices. A flat property tax system, where tax is based on what you paid for the home, is so long overdue. Does not affect county revenues, they can always adjust the rate to meet their income needs. Please, some politician, lobby for a flat property tax system and do away with this flawed assessment system.
