This story brightened my day, just thank God he was not hurt and Mom, you need to wake up and tend to your children in the morning. But I will say this you have a very ambitious and determined little boy.

This brightened my day too, really needed a good laugh! Grand Theft Auto and Monster Truck Jam teaching our kids to drive sure saves alot of money on drivers education, way too funny.

How the heck is a 6 year old able to get himself up, dressed and allowed to leave the house for a Bus stop without ANY Parental supervision???

This story is neither "brightening" nor "funny"
It speaks volumes about the state of Parenting issues in this Country.

His Parents are lucky this young boy is still alive!!

Thank goodness one of the four of you who have commented on this story has some common sense. It was neither funny or brightening to me either. What a sad state of affairs when a six-year-old has to get him/herself off to school. Shame on the mother and the father who don't seem to deserve to have the knowledge to raise a six-year-old. Should have started with a dog, but probably not. Wake up and smell the responsibility involved with raising kids.

He wanted to get to school because he didn't want to miss breakfast? The mother is home sleeping and can't even manage to get herself out of bed to get him a bowl of cereal? Not funny at all. The parenting issues are pathetic. That boy is lucky he didn't drive head on into another car. I hope the idiots who think this is funny don't have any kids. Good parents would never think this is a big joke.

Sad story, really. The kid sounds like a survivor with a much better work ethic than his loser parents.
Maybe social services will find him a better home where the mom actually gets her lazy ass out of bed to fix breakfast for the children.

It's all sarcasm...obviously I am thankful that he didn't get hurt or hurt anyone else. But this little kid was determined to get to school, driving, crashing and then trying to walk the rest of the way! The poor kid gets no attention at home from his lazy ass mother that he can't wait to get to school to get the attention that he deserves! And the fact of how he learned to drive was just funny.

I don't think this is so funny, as much as it is tragic. A six-year-old, having to get up on his own, get breakfast and get to school on his own? Bad parenting going here.

this kid is obviously way smarter than both of his parents put together. they should take away both kids so they can't collect state money to take care of them, which they're obviously not doing!
Thankfully the little boy wasn't hurt and now everyone knows his situation.

Did anyone think that maybe Mom got the kid up and dressed then went back to bed? I used to when my kids where little...after I got them on the bus of course!

Exactly , after they were on the bus. She should have gotten her butt up , fed the kid, dressed him and then went to the bus stop to ensure his well being, what if he had gotten kidnapped waiting for the bus alone?

You have a bigger chance of getting struck by lightning than a kid has of getting kidnapped. Statistics don't lie, don't even bother trying to refute my statement.

Because putting the parents in prison is going to improve the kid's quality of life and how well brought up he is. Right.

It doesn't make any difference. My son is 6 and I would never DREAM of having him get himself up, dressed, and out to the bus stop BY HIMSELF!! He is just to young! Having breakfast at school, fine, but get you butt out of bed and get him to the bus! It is not that hard to do!

I agree, I don't find this story funny at all. Very sad!

Maybe he lives in a neighborhood with other children who would also be riding the bus and waiting at the same bus stop; it could be that the bus comes to within less than a block of his house, it could even stop right in front of his house in which case he could wait on his porch.

Buses also tend come early and drop kids off before school starts so they have a chance to get breakfast. If I had to ride the bus I wouldn't want to get up extra early for a bowl of cereal and then go sit in the cafeteria with nothing to do for the next 30min.

What I find so very sad and disturbing is how quickly you people jump to conclusions and assume the worst in everyone, there aren't nearly enough facts in this article to make the assumptions that most of you have. And you call them bad parents, well it takes a good person to be a good parent and I hope for humanity's sake that your children will turn out better than you are.
