I got mixed feelings on the child endangerment charges..... After all, this six year old shows some initiative that most six year old kids don't show, like repeating complex actions from example. Don't get me wrong. GTA and Monster Truck Jam are not exactly prime examples on driving. But the fact that the six year tried to adapt the basics to real life does show something. The parents certainly have an exceptional child. Now is the time they need to nurture that energy for good. A child like this could easy become a manipulative bully if left alone. True, the kid got out of hand at this moment. I don't think that should lead to the arrest of the parents. But the parents need to show that they understand the gravity of the situation. Unless, of course, the parents gave the kid the keys. A resourceful six year old like this probably intended to take the keys and go, not thinking if about getting caught or not. Apparently, he wanted to get to school (another fine trait missing from kids these days). I think the parent's should get fined, but not jailed, but with a promise of more severe penalties if it ever happened again. That way, the get a wake-up call about their child's personality and can learn to parent him better.

Sounds to me like this child was so hungry, he wanted to get to school for breakfast. Why was the mother in bed and not making sure her son got to school? Obviously something is wrong in this household. Any other child would wake his mom and say he missed the bus. This child was obviously afraid to do that. And the games he is playing tells me the parents do not look out for what is best for the child. Sounds to me like he has to fin for himself or do without. The parents should be charged and should be subject to some parenting classes. Wake up mom & dad, you are lucky your son is still alive. Start taking care of him!

The bad guy is blown away. So the kid takes his fathers shotgun and blows away the neighbor who last evening told him to stay on his own property. Gonna' be some future problems here if people think this way.

The way I see it, it's not the same thing. Everyone knows that guns kill and they need to be secured from kids who are curious and pull the trigger. How many of us secure our car keys? You want to make all things liable, but sometimes accidents occur that people do not foresee. That said, there may be more to the story if the mom is being held without bail.

If she did not want to be a responsible parent, she should not have had a child. And it is quite apparent that neither of these parents are responsible. So I think they should be locked up and learn a lesson. They are lucky their son is still alive and they should think about what could have happened because they were to lazy to be responsible. Again, parenting classes are in order in this matter!

You certainly make a lot of judgements and assumptions from a little bit of information.

Being a mother..one of my first concerns when reading this..was why was the mother sleeping and not helping a 6 year old get off to school safely.

Those games are not for 6 year olds. Obviously school is a better place to be or he would not have tried so hard. And no breakfast at home shows a great home life.

he was probably rushing to school because he was starving because his parents NEGLECT him and dont feed him. you know the stories we hear about children in abusive homes, the main reason for school is saftey and food. sad sad sad, good thing these dumba$$ parents are being charged. what a pathetic waste of oxygen.

When I hear a question like that, my first response is does this happen often or was this the first time because Mom was just plain tuckered out and slept through the alarm. It happens, you know, that people sometimes fall short of perfection.

Sounds like useless parents to me. They should get the book thrown at them for neglect. Come on 6 years old child and the parents can't get their lazy butt up to make sure their child gets off to school. I don't want to hear they worked long hours, they were sick or any other bull. You get up and take care of your responsibilities.
