Polk County Hoping To House Prisoners In New Scott County Jail

MENA / WALDRON - A local county is looking to house their prisoners at a jail that hasn't opened yet.

I think they are willing to pay to house the prisoner's and to help get monies to open and operate it? Let's build a new jail, but let's not staff or run it. Makes good Scott County sense. I guess it is better to send all the females somewhere else and the county have to pay for that than to keep them in the county they were arrested in. I think that some of the quorum court members need to just retire and stop thinking that the money is coming out of their own pockets. Go and talk to all your constituants and not just the few you know will agree with you. See what they really think without trying to influence them.
You can make some money off this building by housing other counties prisoners. Empty building, going to waste. How dum is that?

It will never happen because the Mena jail will be repaired before the scott county jail even opens.

Looks like Scott County just missed out on alot of money. Mena jail will be up and running soon and will gather all their prisoners housed elsewhere. To bad the Quorum Court is full of a bunch of old fogies that need to just retire and sit in a rocking chair on the porch. They don't really know what their people want. They only know what they want. They think the money comes out of their own pockets. Scott county is drying up and fixing to blow away. Do you know that their Sheriff's deputies qualify for Food Stamps? How shameful is that? But, considering some of the people that are on the Quroum Court, I am not suprised. If people want to really get an idea of what people are paid who are working off of your taxes, all of the salaries are public information. Your "Elected" quorum court members, who are supposed to be representing your interests are not doing you any favors. You need to go to a meeting or two.
