I think Marilyn Jojnson did the right thing, and should take it a step further. I think she should report this to the child protective agency. If this is not child abuse, I don't know what it is. Sam Walton would not have allowed anything like this to go on in his stores. If a parent wants to have their child's ears pierced, they should take them to a doctor, and let the doctor do it.Walmart should not let their employes force a small child to have piercing.

I hope Marilyn sees this. She did the right thing! How is this not child abuse when swatting your child in the store is?

Letter I sent to Walmart!I urge others to do the same.
Hi, I just came from your store here in town (Brookfield,MO 64628).I would like to say that a service the store provides made me sick to my stomach.I was shopping when I heard a baby screaming it's head off.I looked over and right in the middle of the store 3 grownups were holding down a tiny infant pierecing her ears.Of course the baby was screaming bloody murder.I cannot believe adults think this is appropriate at all and least of all in the store.I think it is a shame that just because an adult can sign a paper that makes it OK to do this to an infant.I cannot believe that Walmart condones this and promotes it to sell a pair of earrings. In my opinion the adults doing this should be taken out hog tied and branded .That way they can wear a pretty mark for life.No consent from the person being branded just let the infant drool on the paper.I find this procedure very offensive to other shoppers and there small children they have with them in the store. If Walmart wants to promote this type of service it should at least be done in a steril enviroment and a closed room. These people you have doing this are not Doctors,Nurse's or anything similar.I guess if you can hold the gun you can shoot steel in a infant.I ask you does this really seem appropriate for a store like Walmart? Find a room for such stuff.Hopefully a sound proof one.I realize I cannot stop this type of behavior, but do I have to shop around it on a everyday basis?I beg you to please consider the infants! They can not speak or sign there consent,,but they do feel pain!I am crying as I type this from being so upset at this display that I was subjected too while trying to buy the things I needed from basically our only store.I truly hope you will take this email to heart and think this over. Please put an end to this public display.
Sincerely,
Carol Sportsman

This kind of abuse isn't limited to Walmart, unfortunately. There's a jewelry store in my local mall that does this "service" too. My son and I had to listen to another poor little girl's screaming, and it sounded like she was being tortured. I wish idiot mooooomies would get a clue; if your daughters don't want their ears pierced, DON'T do it to them. I was ready to cuss this idiot moo out, but saw that it would be pointless. I didn't have my cell phone with me at the time. Next time, I will.

come ON it's not like they're beating these kids with a spiked bar! it's just ear piercing! get a life. it's not a huge deal. it's a tiny, barely noticeable hole. it doesn't hurt. i just got mine done last week, and i wish i'd had them when i was a baby so i wouldn't remember. you guys... you're facists! i mean ... come on! i bet every one of you had your sons circumsized, have your ears pierced, and make your daughters wear bras. so ... get over it. seriously. sheesh.

It's just ear piercing?? How about the fact that the baby doesn't want her ears done? It's just ignorant mothers and fathers who think it's cute. Hmm, yeah, bet it's real cute when they get an infection and the baby's crying because it hurts so much! Vanity, that's all it is.

As for the circumcision remark. No, I did not circumcise my son. That is barbaric and grossly inhumane.

I pierced my daughter's ears at 2weeks old and I circumcized my son at 3 days old. Somethings are better done young. I think its rediculous for someone to see something perfectly normal as a child getting its ears pierced and report it. You people are the reason why this nation is going to hell, parents can't be parents anymore. Pity.

My daughter both have their ears pierced and both sons are circumcized. My oldest daughter wanted her ears done for a second time at the age of 12 and she still screamed and ran and came back. Instead of worrying about piercing our childrens ears why not worry about important things like keeping your children supervised. Many people (not everyone) allow their children to walk to school without an adult, or play in the yard alone, or walk to a friends house, and their never come home. Worry about that, that is child abuse!!!!!!!!!!

Have any of you ever seen a circumision done? You might not think it is "so harmless" after you actually see one. It is only done now for cosmetic reasons and does in turn cause more harm to a child than just leaving the foreskin. Here is just one example: http://www.cirp.org/library/procedure/plastib... It is amazing how we don't do female circumsion, but allow it for males. Maybe one days little boys will get the same fair treatment.

Circumcision is not the same as piercing one's ears.

Chi-Chi, I watched my son get his circ and I saw my daughter get her ears pierced. Neither are abusive. I know about burritos, don't like 'em.
