The unicoperated areas are covered by the Sheriffs Dept and the city is covered by Whittier P.D. The tagging is a huge problem in the area, but we are working very hard to get it under control. Supervisor Molina and Knabe has agreed to try the graffiti tracker program in the area like they use in West Whittier and they have had a great amount of success with it. The suupervisor wants graffit removed within 48 hrs after it is called in, this does not include the weekends or when it rains. Please call the 800 number when you see graffiti so it can be removed promptly, and keep track of who you talk to. If it isnt removed promptly call the Supervisors office and let them know. They will take care of the problem.

Well,
we could start with addressing the initial problem, which is gang activity. They are retarded to think they can claim turf when it is clearly public property. Perhaps they should tag up their own home instead of the poles and walls.
Video surveillance in high gang areas, stricter consequences for graffiti, and the citizens standing up strong against it. I think most people are afraid to even report the incident while its happening with fear of getting involved. How about more patrol officers, having traffic officers who drive around harassing good people for minor offenses should be focusing on the young kids driving around speeding, excessive lane changing and driving in two way left hand turn lanes to break ahead of traffic is dangerous.(Sorry off topic) The patrol officers should worrying about stuff like this and gang activity.

If you live in unicorperated Whittier you can call the 800 number, it is 800-675-4357, if you live in Supervisor Molina's area (1st dist) graffiti is to be removed in 48 hrs, if it is not please let her office know. And to Upset in Hac Hts, call Norwalk station 863_8711 and ask to talk to Dep Pat Rincon, he is the "Town Sherrif" for the area you are talking about, Sorensen Park.

I don't see how you can hold city workers responsible. They do not work 24 hours around the clock, they come out on emergency calls at night. The tagging is mostly done during the late hours. The ones doing it aren't taught to respect other peoples property. I live in the unincorporated area. The kids are out all hours at night, the dogs are running loose. The graffitti removers come when called but the stuff is back up within days. I don't know who is doing it but I have a good idea. Put curfews up and anyone found breaking it, parents are fine. Loitering on curbs put fines on parents. See how fast things change.
that is the stupidest most ignorant thing i've ever heard...
just because someone is loitering on a curb they automatically have to be a tagger? just because some kids are out later than you are that makes them a tagger? its people like you that make it hard for everybody else just because you think that everyone is doing bad.

Whittier has a bunch of kids that are illiterate, hoodrats up to no good. Thier parents claim "Oh, my kid isnt a gang banger and little is that they are involved in gangs.
My family took in a relative from my step fathers side who lived in Whittier. This kid was no good from the beginning. He wanted to assimilate so bad that he hung around with the other hoodrats. Well, they shipped him back to where he came from and that is better. HE can go write on walls in his ranch town...nasty hoodrat.

Okay, let me get this right. NBK from milktoast East Whittier is claiming 187 on the other cliques in the area? That's absurd! You my friend wouldn't last 10 minutes in another hood. Take a trip to So.Central ,Compton or even So.Whittier for that matter, and try to rep your crap there...I thought so...Why don't you get back to school and make the most of the great opportunity you have. You live in one of the better areas and all you want to do screw it up with a bunch of Crew-Crap.
For all the people that don't know the area, it's mostly quiet bedroom neighborhoods. Typical suburbs with lots of parental involvement. Youth sports going on year-round. Obviously some of the youth that aren't from structured households have gone astray. For them, I wish that they find their way before it's too late.

If a youngster is kicking back on the streets at 3:00 am you'd be stupid to think their not up to no good. C'mon guy, use your brain. He's not waiting for the stores to open or being a good citizen by patrolling the streats for the bad guys I'll tell you that much.

Tagging is gonna keep happening because police in whittier just stopped caring at one point. I see that now. These little kids whom haven't become men yet, and probably never will, have the whole city to do as they please. WPD has given up on the "Middle to Lower-Middle class" of whittier areas. Milton, Pickering, Newlin, Broadway, etc. It's a done deal. Those of us who care just need to move. Plain and simple. I've called the police about gun shots, tagging, fights, and have gotten nothing! If you look like a gangster or tagger. The police should stop and search that person. Instead I see chicken ass speeding tickets given out to people trying to get to work, and watching obvious gang members/taggers walk by unscathed. Great Job you guys, wow! Just, great job.
I totally agree with you. The only place you ever see WPD responding to is the more affluent areas of Whittier. They are prejudice, not only do they give out speeding tickets, bogus driving tickets, they retain 14 year old kids at 9:45 until 10:05 issuing out curfew tickets. If a kid is just sitting on their skateboard they give them a ticket. WPD intimidates the city and people of Whittier. IF you complain, they literally laugh in your face. Schools have been broken into, vandelized, neighbors call regarding trespassers on school premesis after closures, and they do not sure up until 2 to 4 hours later. The new green trail looks horrible, taggers/gang bangers are giving Whittier a bad name and a horrible look. Now, they are even killing people for calling them on their tagging.(At this point, it is better to call 911, but what good does it do when WPD does not show up.) That is what the residents are doing know because the police are not responding and are responding to petty stuff. But they always have an excuse for themselves. Their presious lives are on the line, Are not our lives being put on the line because if we see or report anything, people are now afraid of retailation. So whose lives are on the line. They chose their profession and apparently they were trained-we weren't. I do blame the WPD and the city officials for turning a blind eye, living in denial, while they are sitting pretty in their well protected homes since they only serve themselves. While vacationing in the state of Washington,(I literally only saw one part of a wall tagged. What is the state of Washington and their cities doing that Whittier/California not doing?

Yep, I've just given up on this crappy city and am looking to move towards O.C. It's all I can do, the WPD will not change for a long while and the city council..PFT! Forget help from them. I suggest you just try and move elsewhere. Only my opinion though.

Video surveillance should go up where ever there is a graffiti problem. The city would spend less money reviewing the video, instead of sending crews out who make the graffiti look better than the ridiculious paint 'cover ups' that they do. Those 'little' bastards have no right defacing anyones property. They should also have 'retired' volunteers cruising the areas nightly to monitor the problem areas. There are so many senior citizens who would love to be put in a patrol car, cruising around in the middle of the night rather than staying awake, and trying to sleep!

Yeah, but that makes too much sense for the WPD or the City Council for it to happen. Don't you know you need to make it more complicated than it should be. LOL!
