Who's an idiot? Me? If so, do I know which person? Reid? Well, I'm not, nor do I know any detectives or law enforcement personnel. I do know the Notolli Family though, and have for likely as many years as you have been on this planet.

When you say, "Jon is rite You do need to get educated", you provide more evidence that you should have paid a little more attention to your own education. The word is "right", not rite. Rite Aid spells it like that, but they did it on purpose.

It seems you know more than the police on all of these issues. I think we should convince the county to give you a job as Santa Cruz County "MONK". Or maybe that's how they do all the police work in SF. You must be psychic.Does this all come to you in a vision? You are the kind of person who sits at home all day and comments on all the gossip blogs. Tell us about TIGER. You must have been there when he slept with all of those women too? Hey what about Britney.

You know nothing. Stick to things you know about like SPELLING,US MAGAZINE and THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER.

Tim is "RIGHT" you know nothing about it. If you don't know the party or have any PERSONAL experience with those situations than why even comment negative. And no one understands your 17th century slang. Im sure it sounds good in your world but in the real world it sounds over under educated.

I know Reid very well, Him and I have been school mates for years. The Funny thing is Reid does not drink or do drugs so this DUI is bull shit for sure. His family has been collecting guns for years so this is also bullshit. M4 and AR15s are not illegal in cali. If they have been purchased in cali and over 16in barrel its OK. If you do your research the paper already reprinted the article about the guns.(95%) buy at BIG 5. And NO GRENADE LAUNCHER!!! 37MM is fully legal.
Reid has a super big heart. He is so good to his friends and we love him for that. All of Reid's girlfriends were treated so well and he loved them very much. He does not have an enemy in the world. Im sorry this is happening to Reid. Growing pot for cancer patients is not a crime it is a miracle. Reid has become a victim to a ruthless system.

Any one who does not know the family or Reid personally please do not add any txt to any forum. they deserve better than anything negative.

Wow! So the father's importing business is ... bringing in guns from COLUMBIA! Gee whiz!

What an "interesting" bunch of friends this family has. People of scintillating wit, sophistication and advanced education. Not.

So there must be a lot more to the story than the Sentinel covered. I'm mostly asking Tim and the others who REALLY know something about this case.

It makes sense to me that there were some plants for personal use or for giving to "sick friends". That's no big thing to me. I know a few gun collectors too. In Utah, every suburban family seems to have an AR or an AK.

So what brought on the heat?

Guns and grass together? The scary military type weapons? The DUI with a gun?(Gotta admit that's a mess up!). Is it that just the Santa Cruz Sheriff wants to disarm all the citizens?

You know more than all of the other posters what this is about. You have said bits and pieces about the situation,(37mm vs. 40mm). What do you think it is? Do the cops have it in for you?

I think most people already get the fact that Reid has done nothing wrong. The guns all appear to be legal, as several collectors have stated based on the information in the article. One of his best friends states that Reid does not do drugs or drink, and I would tend to believe a best friend when they say the DUI is trumped up. Anyone who gargles with Listerine can be convicted of DUI as we all know. And I don't know Reid, I don't know his friend, and I don't know law enforcement officers either. I have arrived at this opinion simply by reading the facts as they are presented in the article.

Maybe it's in there somewhere. I'm missing the assertion that the guns were all legal. The articles that I read in the Sentinel, stated that the Sheriffs said that there were illegal guns on the property. I missed the collectors part too. I know it's legal to have some neutered versions of the AR15 in California. What about the pot?

It wasn't in the article but from one of the many spams posted on this board trying to convince readers that the Sheriff lied about the guns and basically everything in the story was then exaggerated by the Sentinel.

There is a lot of propaganda in favor of the accused young man in this discussion thread, but I doubt many reasonable people believe that he was merely collecting guns but not using any of them for protection of himself or his large stash of weed. Come on, now.

Yes, the people in favor of this guy know the paper is full of it. That property has about 5 houses and three families living on it. They confiscated the guns and property of many people not just ONE. By now they know this and have not filed charges. This house is up the road from mine and I have been there before. The sentinel is a business that sells stories. Stories are easy to come by and easy to exaggerate for profit. They should tell the stories about the innocent people they put in the hospital that day. These people live far away and have nothing to do with it. This part of the county has more houses with guns and pot than most other places in the world. If you live in the Santa Cruz area and do not know this then try to know your neighbors better…
The State needs money bad. Cops know if they do not deliver they will work traffic instead of a high paid office, car and cell phone. Anyone notice the holiday expansion of police force on the street. This is good for some things I do agree. Overall the $ should go to education. We have plenty 20 year old cops on the street.

You get on your moral soapbox defending the mother who let her (estranged) meth-soaked husband into her home to play with their 15-month-old child (who subsequently tested positive for the drug), yet you aren't willing to give this guy the benefit of the doubt. Interesting. Aren't you being a little sexist here? Or is this family's very comfortable income and the fact that the adult Reid is still living at home turning you against him?

nope, it's the loaded gun found in his car, the loaded weapons found hidden in couches and such in his home, the quantity of pot reportedly found in his home, the conflicting stories about the stabbing posted in these discussions, not to mention some of the silly, desperate sounding comments defending him posted here. there is really no comparison between these two stories at all. now, if the meth-tainted child has any more problems once the father is removed from the scene then of course the mother should be scrutinized further. as for reid, i think the cops saw a powder keg with he potential to erupt and they acted accordingly. personally i prefer if they they erred on the side of caution in this case.

Guns and grass together? The scary military type weapons? The DUI with a gun?(Gotta admit that's a mess up!). Is it that just the Santa Cruz Sheriff wants to disarm all the citizens? Did they think there were sales of guns or drugs? Maybe since they stopped him for being on speed (suspicion), they thought this place was a meth lab?
What do you think it is? Do the cops have it in for Reid?

Don: I do know the family in question... and believe it or not, I can in fact still spell! The guns.. there were 50 guns taken. They were 99.9% legal/registered.. to the father and son. The guns were purchased anywhere from the 70's to today. THat's nearly 40 years of potential gun purchases.. 50 guns, in 40 years... that's not all that astonishing. THe .1% of the guns that are not legal.... they're not legal because they are not in either parties name. Primarily due to the fact that they were purchased in the 70's and 80's... where gun laws weren't nearly as strict.
As for the sheriff's office acting so vehemently... The word on the street is that the whole raid was based off of cell phone media(primarily pictures of pot growing and/or weapons). There is currently a case in the CA supreme court.. and one that just ended in the Ohio supreme court, regarding the police's right to view/record evidence derived from a cell phone.. In Ohio, the police's right was revoked...due to a lack of danger as a result of not checking the phone..(basically.. the cop's dont need ot look at your phone, and in today's day and age.. a cell phone is essentially a person's computer.../their life.)
Honestly... Does a pic of someone shooting a rifle on a cell phone, and other pictures of pot growing.. truthfully warrant a bomb squad/25 officer raid of one's property? From the perspective of a judge/jury: Do the cell phone pics honestly imply that one has guns/pot at their house? In theory.. it could just as easily be a gun at a gun show, range, etc.. or just as easily be a pot grow in amsterdam.
My guess: The case gets thrown out on the grounds that it was an illegal search and seizure:

These facts about the guns make total sense. He IS a collector of guns, regardless of what people choose to believe. If you have 50 guns accumulated over that many years, you ARE a collector. The fact that they are all registered to someone else on the property and not that easily concealed is further evidence of the puzzling actions of the Sheriff.
