Just Wondering

Some churches teach in eternal security and I was wondering what the majority of everyone thought. So do you believe you can get saved and live like hell and still go to heaven

there are plenty of people who talk the talk but dont walk the walk if you know what i mean. if someone is saved and they live their life right then i believe they will go to heaven. but just cause you got saved dont mean you got a free pass to do wrong and still get in

I interpret being saved as having God in your heart, I mean having him TRULY in your heart, I think the process in the church is symbolic, and although I think it is a nice ritual, I do not believe that is what saves you. To really be saved you have to believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior, if you are saved through church yet knowingly sin all the time, no, I do not believe you will go to heaven, but if Jesus lives in your heart and you try to make the right decisions I believe you will go to heaven. I whole-heartedly believe in God but I do not attend church.

Yes your always saved once you become saved, that doesnt mean your always in his good graces. You have to strive to do right constantly and try to always do the right thing.

At last a decent discussion! Eternal security is real. It does not give a license to sin "live any way you want and still go to heaven". The scriptures back this up over and over again. In speaking to the diciples, Christ said "All that my Father has given me I HAVE KEPT, NO ONE CAN SNATCH THEM OUT OF MY HAND. In john 3:16, Jesus tells us Whosover belives in me will have eternal life. Eternal life and eternal security are the same thing. our salvationj is based on grace not works. If by grace, and it is, the it is not removeable. It is IMPOSSIBLE to be GENUINELY SAVEN AND THEN LOST. What would re-save you? Can Christ Be re-crucified? No. WE are "Saved and sealed unitl the day of redempiton".

Did you look it up? Your right it did not say stiffneck, it said stiffnecked. My Bible is the King James version. I hope everyone on here starts to read their Bible more. We could all learn something.

We can claim at any time that we are saved but it is up to the one who judges us if that is really true. Someone here said that works will not save you, here is what Christ said.

Matt.7

20] Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
[21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
[24] Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

In verse 21 Jesus said "He that doeth the will of my father" and in verse 24 He said "...and doeth them..."

Seems to me that works does play a very important part of getting into heaven but those who brag about their works are in jeopardy.

However works alone will not save you. The Bible says that faith without works is dead.

No once you become saved you are not always saved. Go read Matthew 25 with the parable concerning the 5 foolish virgins and the 5 wise. In this parable all ten started with their lamps on and full of oil but the Bible says that the bridegroom (Jesus) took longer than what was expected. The 5 foolish went to the 5 wise and said give us of your oil for our lamps have gone out. The 5 wise said not so for if we give to you then we will not have enough. So the 5 foolish went to the store to buy more oil and while they where gone the bridegroom came and only took the 5 wise to the marriage supper. The 5 foolish then went to the marriage supper party and when they knocked on the door of the bridegroom he told them to depart for he never knew them. Also go on and read the next parable about the unprofitable servent. When his lord returned he had done nothing with what his lord had gave him so he was cast into hell.
If you where once saved and now you are living like hell and living in sin then friend I am sorry but you are on your way to hell. You are not going to heaven by accident, read what Jesus said when the man asked him lord are there few that be saved. Jesus looked at him and said strive (press, struggle) to enter into the strait (narrow) gate for many I say unto you will seek to enter in and they shall not be able.
It is possible to be lost again, in the book of revelations we find that there will be some people who have their name blotted out of the lambs book of life. In the book of Romans, the great grace preacher paul told us to take heed for if God spared not the natural branch, take heed lest he not spare you. He is talking about the old testament. When Moses lead the hebrew out of Egypt he promised them a land flowing with milk and honey, but while they were in the desert they begain to look back to Egypt, saying wish to God we were in egypt, so God caused them to wonder around in the desert for 40 years until the all died. Only 2 that left Egypt made it into Canan and they where Joshua and Caleb. Did God lie? No he didn't they sinned agaist him. You can say well that is in the Old testement, yes but what does the bible say, it says that God is the same yesturday today and forever. If you want to know what God is going to do in the future look at the past.
Being a Christian is more than shaking a preachers hand and praying at the alter, but it is a lifestyle. To be a Christian you are to be Chrit like. That is all being saved is. See when you become saved you are born again. The Bible says that behold all things are new and old things have passed away. Meaning you are supposed to get out of the sinning buisness. The Bible says that if you sin on purpose knowing it is wrong then there remains no more sacrifice for your sin. The teaching of eternal security is a very dangerous doctrine straight from hell.

Jesus tell us that in John 3:16 but he also went on to say that if you belive in one God, thats good, but even the devils believe and tremble. So just believeing is doing know more than the devil. Yes are salvation is based on grace and having faith in what Christ done, but go read the book of James. James, the brother of Jesus, taught that faith without works is dead. Meaning that this new faith in Jesus creates works. Ill prove it, what saved Noah was it his faith in what God said concerning rain or was it his works in building the ark? The answer, both. See we misuse the word saved you are not saved until you make it to heaven. When you become a Christian you are in a race. Paul said it is not the one who starts the race that gets the crown but the one who finish it. With that statement there we see that it is possible to start the race and not finish it, or in other words become a christian and then fall off the track. Also when Jesus said that no man can pluck you out of his hand, he was right, but you have to look at the original translation. The world pluck in the greek means to remove forcefuly meaning that I cant kick you out and make you go to hell bc I don't like you, he never says you can't make yourself. Go read Matthew 25 about the 10 virgins and the unprofitable servent.

Amen I agree works does play apart bc what saved Noah his faith in God concerning the rain or his works in building the ark? It was both.

I read my Bible, you are exactly right, we won't know if we are saved until the judge of judges says so.

Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

I'm 57 years old but there is still more to learn, you are doing good for 22, keep it up.

I used to attend the gospel principles class the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints had going on Wednesday nights several years ago. Learned more there than anywhere else, their beliefs are right on pertaining to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

They will be starting these classes again pretty soon and I plan on attending. After class you can fill out a form and leave any questions you have and they will discuss it in upcoming meetings. You can also pick your favorite topic and they will have a class on that. They use the Bible (KJV) and of course the book of Mormon.

There were as many as 25 in attendance some nights and sometimes people would volunteer to teach a class. It was fun and a good chance to meet people of all faiths and you would be surprised at how much we all have in common.

They usually had refreshments and someone to help with children if you had to bring them along.
