Miss Font, you are wrong. You missed the point of Stone Soup. It wasn't about casting stones. It was about working together. The soldiers were hungry, but the point was there was more than enough to go around, but people needed to share, not hoard.

For Hempburn...every since you mentioned that bear I have seen nothing but funny bear stories. Cubs swimming in a backyard pool while Mom was somewhere close by, MSN showing a "Bear family that drinks 100 cans of beer together stays together" and on CNN some bear strolling in a hotel lobby door. What is up with the bears? They want to be human. Poor things are being pushed out of their environment with progress, hungry dried up streams and drought, Mother Nature is telling us something.
Hope you get to see the Perseid meteor shower tonight early Sun morning that is expected. Looks nice and clear for viewing in my area.:)
Mornin SB, I got outside about midnight and stayed in the backyard until about two watching the meteors. Not the biggest show I've seen for the Perseid but I know I was a bit early. I will be out again tonight laid back in the hammock for another viewing. Hope you got to enjoy this event as well.

"I don't have anything to do with Farterman".Years of Scottsville posts prove that to be a lie. "I don't even know him". Again a lie. "I don't even have a crew". No you don't "have" a crew,as in a full fledged member. For some reason you have always been a low level troll hyena, you only join in on the attack when you think "The crew" had the upper hand. It's always ate at you that even the group you hung around with(at a safe distance, for fear they might turn on you if bored enough),never really accepted you.
Now you come here to try and prove yourself one of them.Maybe even better, you even seem to be trying to be the next una.Una won't like that,he will smile and pat your back for a while, then when you least expect it he and his hehehe's will descend on you.Such is the nature of the hyena troll.
I have only conversed with them just as with you now. But that doesn't make me and you anything other than conversing. I know you just as I know Farterman, does that explain it, Wa Ba? LMFAO at your analogy.

As children in the late 50's, we would come into the house to make peanut butter and crackers, or some combination consisting of valuable nourishment. After discovering there was neither, my dad(1917-1999) would always resort to this small phrase. It was one of his favorites. I would have never known that he even knew who Carl Sandburg was. Thank you A.W., you are all right, I don't care what anybody says!!

LOL I assumed as much. Another favorite of my fathers was, when somebody would talk a lot without letting anyone else say anything, he would later(so as not to show disrespect) say, "They must've been vaccinated with a Victrola needle"! Ever hear that one Wolf?

No, can't say that I ever heard that one, but I quite often heard "You would worry a wooden man to death". LOL I noticed your dad was 1917-1999, mine was 1915-1997.

which reminds me of a delightful children's book "stone soup". Where the homeless traveler gets what he wants buy throwing a stone in some water and tricking the town people into providing him with a hearty stew. Something's never change. Have a great day
Looks like one of our readers has a slight variation of the story, but the one you mentioned is the one I remember, from Captain Kangaroo. My friends and I still do this quite often, and I have plenty of rocks to spare!

Like one of my favorite songs of all times.
Kaw-[dm] liga, was a wooden indian standing by the door
He fell in love with an indian maid over in the antique store
Kaw-liga - a, just stood there and never let it show
So she could never answer yes or no.

He always wore his sunday feathers and held a tomahawk
The maiden wore her beads and braids and hoped someday hed talk
Kaw-liga - a, too stubborn to ever show a sign
Because his heart was made of knotty pine.

poor ol kaw-liga, he never got a kiss
poor ol kaw-liga, he dont know what he missed
is it any wonder that his face is red
Kaw-liga, that poor ol wooden head....

Kaw-liga, was a lonely indian never went nowhere
His heart was set on the indian maiden with the coal black hair
Kaw-liga - a, just stood there and never let it show
So she could never answer yes or no.

Then one day a wealthy customer bought the indian maid
And took her, oh, so far away, but ol kaw-liga stayed
Kaw-liga - a, just stands there as lonely as can be
And wishes he was still an old pine tree.

Hey Blueminer. Good day to you too. Did you see the news flash on the Iran earthquake. 80 dead, 400 injured? Breaking news so story is developing. Those reports I posted were informative for this very reason. Small earthquakes seem to eventually lead to big earthquakes.
This earthquake in Iran is quite possibly the harbinger of something big about to happen over there. There is talk that this could be a HAARP induced earthquake. It would be interesting to see the seismograph readings for that area over the last few months and how it compares to data from previous years...aberrant patterns are very revealing.
