This may be off-topic, but it seems to me that there's an epidemic in McCreary County, and that there's many, many teachers who chose the profession for all the wrong reasons. In this county, it's close to the top of the economic social ladder, other professions are limited because the job market is virtually non-existent, and they get summers off with pay. To those who chose the profession for those reasons--and I know that they're there--I ask, where's the concern for the students? In my opinion, those are the teachers who need weeded out, and they need replaced with the Debbie Gibsons of the world, because the Debbie Gibsons of the world have genuine passion for students, and the Debbie Gibsons of the world will take that passion and fight the good fight for your children.

I will not be voting for Debbie nor will any of my family. I have had people tell me that she gets mad when they tell her that they are voting for Johnny. Get over it Debbie everyone has a right to vote for whom ever they choose. I think this whole topix things is crazy. Why on earth are we all on here making a big deal out of nothing. It really doesn't matter what any of us say what matters is if we actually get out on Nov 4 and vote for who we want. In the end that is the only thing that matters and the people will be heard on that day. So, if you actually want to make a difference vote on Nov 4 and stop all this childish stuff.

I really hope that's not how you're basing your vote. That's called hearsay. Unless you've witnessed it yourself, it's really, one, not fair to Debbie to post something that's hearsay, and, two, not fair to yourself to vote based on something you have no firsthand knowledge of. I understand how politics in this county works, but, I'm sorry, that he said/she said/my neighbor's best friend's grandma said stuff just gets to me a little. Don't rob yourself of your right to get to know the candidates and their positions, and don't vote for someone based on what someone else said, how well you know them or their families, or what they've promised to do for you. That's how this county got into this political mess. Let's all vote for the best candidate. The one who will do the best job for the students of McCreary County. That's what's important. They're what's important here.

You should call the police if someone's holding you hostage and forcing you to be here. Just saying!

I don't think a school board election that effects the students in McCreary County schools is "a big deal out of nothing." Sorry, I think that's a pretty big deal, and I think Debbie Gibson has proven time and time again that she thinks it's a big deal, and that's she's willing to give of herself, her time and money, and go to bat for students.

Am I the only one who feels like we've never left the ol' District 5 forum?

Its sad to hear that you are making your desciosn on who to vote for on here say!! But I agree vote for whom ever you like, who you want to stand up for your children is who you should vote for. Your comment about anyone posting is acting childish is rude. We all have opioions and can post when or about whatever we want. If you dont like it then dont read it, its as simple as that. But I dont like to be called childish because I get on here and post every now and again.
PS..by the way ill be making my voting choice by things I know and have seen, not on here say. And I will be voting for Debbie Gibson as will my family.

Vote for whow ever you choose. I don't care. And as you say we all have our opinions and my opinion is that some of the stuff on all of these posts are childish. I made my decision a long time before I heard anything about Debbie. I have known her for a long time and think she has had her turn and its time for someone else to try it out. Anyway, I won't be back on here. I don't want to argue with people I am better than that. I will just vote for Johnny on Nov 4th and be done with it. Thanks for your comments.

The big deal out of nothing that I was referring to was what we all have posted. It is really nothing unless we vote. I have read the District 5 forum but haven't responded and won't be here again. Sorry if I offended you because I will be voting for Johnny instead of Debbie. Our votes will just cancel each other out.

Of course you feel that way...SHE HAS STOOD up to you and said no when she was correct in doing so. Yes i do know! So i can see why you think the way you do. After all your thinking about yourself and not the children! I suppose your someone the school system needs, huh?

[QUOTE who="KY Educator" All of us teachers can't stand the way she tries to run everything fromt he playground to the homework policies.[/QUOTE] I think you probably by now know you've made an ass of yourself with that comment, i'll assume that by now you know who your referring to was not Debbie at all but indeed her daughter who is shaken the Elem. up. Must really suck when you post something that you honestly know nothing about. As far as Corinda , she has every reason to question the playground policy and any of policy at that school that affects her kids. The homework policy is and as been for years just unheard of. They send the work they should be doing at school home, so us parents can do it with them which is fine but why pay the teachers? When a 6 yr child has 300 and something pieces of homework theres a problem. I don't blame Corinda for questioning this policy. Seems she is like her mother, she fights for whats right and questioning people whom she should not has made others mad. Sounds like good family to me and is exactly who i'll be voting for in Nov.
One question Debbie or Corinda...got any more family that can help straighten things out?

It appears that way. Everyone seems to have lost sight of the most important issue and that would be the children, not who's friends with who or all the hear say. Just a sad thing when someone would rather have their name assoicated with someone than the welfare of their children.

Thank you.. I really appericate your comments. I for one do not like to "stand out" per say.. Its somthing I really have to pray about and hope I do a good job. But when it comes to my kids I HAVE to stand up. Questioning the homework policy was a 'big deal' which I had no idea it was going to be such a big deal. But the 1st grade teachers have worked with us and they are brining home 6 pages or more less homework per week. We now have more time for family time and extra ciricular activites. I think they have also changed the outdoor playground time, or split it I should say. So it is safer for my kids and everyone elses kids and that is what matters. I hate to make people mad or upset with me but if it involves helping out my kids and others in the process then ill do it.. So again thanks for your comments I really do appericate it..

Sometimes we must stand out to get the point across. Of course if there is a better and easier way than that way should be tried but not always does it work. You have every right as a parent to question anything that affects your children in anyway. Every parent does and i encourage them to do so. That is exactly what is happening to the world, not enough parents care to question. It seems you have made an a few upset at the Elem., you also have gotten a few things to change so thats what is important. You aren't there to win a popularity contest with the teachers but to make sure things for one are fair for your child and safe. I'm surprised this issue with the play ground hasn't been brought up before, although i do know the problem with the homework has. Every parent with a child in the school should thank you and i'm sad to say i doubt that be the case though. Same thing to you that i said to your mother, keep doing what you do thats best for not only your children but others as well. We need more of you guys in the schools to protect and care for our kids when we can't be there.
Again thank you!

Lou Lou lost the issue all together didnt she, when the educator got on a pc and talked about our children that did give us the right to respond and even though u call it childish, i think it was rude of the dumbazz teacher to post what she did and said about children, so you surely dont have to come back with any comment to me because u sound about as rude and senseless as the educator , and why hasnt the educator told us who she is yet, GO DEBBIE GO

You don't care? I care. Why else would I spend my time on topix trying to point out all the lies that are being told? Because I care who gets elected to the school board, and, to a degree, holds our children's futures in their hands.

BTW, if you made your decision a long time ago, before you heard anything about Debbie, then, did you really research your candidates before making a decision? Doesn't sound like it! Just keep this in mind: irresponsible voting holds McCreary County back!!

If someone gets mad at you for standing up for your children or anyone else's, then that's the day I question the sanity of society. Oh wait, has that happened here on topix?

I agree! This topix has gotten out of control and i'll be the first to admit that i read daily and post here and there and wish i did not. Things being posted without facts to back them up or just on what someone else has said just upsets me greatly though and then i have something to say.
I think we should as parents question the sanity of society though because as you read the post on here, its clear children aren't the concern of everyone these days.
