Were these charges for one day, one week, one month?

Also, it is scary to think that this is just a small percentage of all who are driving DUI. I'm always amazed at the number of people, not many but still too many, offering rides on Craigslist who are 420 friendly. Does that mean that they smoke pot and drive to SF or Portland, and encourage it.

During the many months that the DA was not reporting DUIs (and that the Times-Standard could not, therefore, report those DUIs), do all those accused drunk drivers get a free pass?

Why hasn't the DA provided their names so the Times-Standard can print their names?

Why should they get a special freedom that no one else gets?

Why doesn't the DA get those records and give them to the Times-Standard to print?

Are those dozens of names lost in the DA's drawer somewhere?

Yes. I said drawer. Not drawers. No cheap shots for me!

DUI means many dollars for the state. Can't get that sort of income from burglary and robbery convictions.(I mean, burglary and robbery plea bargains) It became so absurd that Candy Lightner, the founder of MADD resigned in disgust.

I see your point, but I have a feeling,( based on how large this weekly list is) the Times Standard would have to release a special edition encyclopedia.

alcoholism is a choice to drink alcohol, not a disease. Now cancer is a disease. You don't get to choose whether you get cancer or not. See the difference?

Since you have already convicted these people in the "court of pubic opinion", do they still need to go to a real court?

Ever thought about the word disease? Dis ease, or, a lack of ease. Alcoholism is certainly that.

That's an interesting point, but it is not the point of what I wrote. My point is that some people who have been accused of DUI are written up in the newspaper, and a whole lot of other people have not been. It's unequal and unfair. Print all of them or print none of them. That's what I think is right.

Print none of them until they're convicted in a court of law and then print all of those convicted.
